Purchase requirements - Small - Lightweight - Powerful - Quiet - Long Hose

1.) Small - when I first received my shipment, I was a bit taken aback. The Box was 4'x2'x 1-1/2'. Gosh it was huge and a bit heavy (for a vac). Slowly I opened the package to find another box. A bit relieved, the size seemed a bit more appropriate. I quickly opened the box to find another box. Now we are talking - once this box was opened, I saw what I wanted - a small, good looking, lightweight vac! The Stainless Steel did give the vac a professional appearance.

2.) Lightweight - Definitely meets the bill. No larger in width and length than my keyboard, there will be no problem moving this vac about.

3.) Powerful - I didn't expect much from all the claims (4 horsepower and 95" of waterlift), but this little vac made me a believer in power. This is the first time I only needed to use the crevice tool for awkward corners. Those little pieces of fuzz and hairs that usually needed picked up with your fingers came right up. The seems in upholstery that filled with dust - clean!

4.) Quiet - My subjective is opinion says this machine is quiet for such a powerful vac. In fact, my IQAir Air Cleaner is louder. Switch the 2-speed switch to low (works similar to my old shop vac and this speed); now we are talking quiet!

5.) Long Hose - The 6.5 foot hose, lightweight and flexible does not make the grade. It's adequate for my purposes, but I may purchase a hose extension.

CONS:
1.) The dust bag is quite small (approx. 7" diameter by 5" deep) - this is to be expected in such a tiny package.
2.) Tools look and feel cheap, which is quite typical for all brands. They are however, effective.

This little vac has terrific suction, better than any cannister I know of. Unfortunately, there are 2 minor design problems. First, there is no catch or hook that keeps the hose attached to the body. I must have pulled it out 10 times doing one small house. All it needs is a simple twist catch or such. Second,there is no comfortable place for your hand holding the thing. The hose attaches to the smooth part that the attachments go in, but that is right where you need to hold it, so you are holding the hose which isnt comfortable. Don't manufacturers EVER use their own products?? These things should not have been missed from a company that's been around forever. It sure did a good job vacuuming though - hope they fix these things.

Works like a champ, exactly as described. I did end up having to buy the power carpet head from the company( who were very nice and it arrived promptly) My only grip is how small the vacuum bag is, if you have a large house or lots of pets, you really have to keep an eye on it...it fills up quick . On the whole, I am very pleased. The cloth bag works very well and is easy to rinse out, drys quickly. I would recommend it to any one especially if you have a small house or trailer and not a lot of storage room. It has plenty of power and is light to carry. The body does get quite warm since there is no plastic shielding, I called the company about this and they explained that as it is all metal and not insulated this is normal.

Product description was thorough, and the product delivers what was promised--power, manageability, healthy cleaning and easy maintenance. It performs like a full-size vac. While in use, there is no byproduct to irritate/exacerbate allergies. On the contrary, the air feels and smells cleaner. It's perfect for a small household and dorm living, for which it was purchased. Although I've a large household with a central vac system, I intend to purchase an additional Metro Vac for places where no central vac has gone before--the attic and the car. However, I'd like one that is bagless, in which a reusable, cleanable container collects the debris that can be manually disposed. The only criticism concerns the attachments: It would be nice if they could be a little larger.

This vacuum works pretty good but the floor attachment is kind of lame and cheapish. The exhaust will knock all of your pictures off the wall if you aren't careful!! It does however serve as an excellent tool to vacuum out your car or trunk.

I purchased a new Metro canister vacuum when I could no longer tolerate my old Eureka canister vacuum -- one of the larger, yellow Boss models. The Eureka's wheels would barely turn, the tube was so thin and cheap that it collapsed in on itself almost immediately, and plumes of dust would blow out of the exhaust. I paid over $100 more for the Metro than I paid for the Eureka, but got a lot more for my money. The Metro Vac is beautifully made -- a real tribute to American craftsmanship -- with heavy duty metal parts that fit tightly together, classy retro graphics, a high quality flexible tube tube buttressed with wire so it won't collapse, and an excellent complement of tools. The "European Style" attachment shown in the photo is particularly effective on my wood floors. Although the Metro Vac is heavier than my old Eureka, it's much easier to maneuver around thanks to the carrying handle and three casters, which spin and pivot freely. The six stage Hepa filter really works -- there is no odor or detectable dust in the air after vacuuming, as there was with the Eureka. Best of all, the Metro Vac has superior suction yet makes much less noise than the Eureka, which made a deafening roar. On the "high" setting, the noise level of the Metro vac is at a comfortable level, and probably half the level of the Eureka. I used to wear earplugs with the Eureka but have no need for them with the Metro vac. As for drawbacks, I've encountered none thus far. I can recommend the Metro Vac OV-4BCSF without reservation.

i have used this for a year or so.works well on my hard wood floors. no complaints.

I purchased the metro because I have shag carpet that requires a suction only vac. I had no need for the power head with a beater bar because my carpet can't handle the agitation so I ordered this one due to reviews of the sucking power. Let me say that this little metro does have really great suction. It is the first vac that I have tried with this new carpet that sucked up any dirt and dog hair (the dison animal with the beater bar off does nothing). It rolls along okay in my 1 1/2 in shag but does tip over (to be expected). My problem begins with the fact that the wand is really short and stays together with friction. Meaning you force two pieces together and then try to move it back and forth over carpet or hard flooring. I admit it doesn't fall apart as often on hard floor but you can't keep it together on the carpet or even low pile area rugs. To actually use the vac you have to bend over and hold the joint where the hose enters the wand and where the top and bottom on the wand fit together. While holding the two areas together you can vacuum but you are bent over which is NOT awesome. I am a pretty average height at 5'6" so if you are tall... If you are looking for a machine for hard floors and cleaning out the car it would be great power for the money. For the person looking to vacuum the house twice a week you should at the very least purchase the machine with the power head (which I know nothing about). The bags are only slightly larger than a softball so they are good for once around the house depending on the size of the home. Some people mention that there are not good instructions with the machine. It is so simple to insert the bag, attach the cover, and insert the hose that you don't really need instructions. It is a very classy looking shop vac. but not great for my purposes. I hope this is helpful, GOOD LUCK!

It's hard to find a place to hold onto the floor brush with out bending over somewhat and that is hard on the back. It doesn't pick up dirt very well on carpet, have to pass over several times and still may not pick up. It's fine for using the dusting brush to dust and get into small places and it's fine on lineoleum but still there's that bending over, it's hard to stand up straight to use it. I'm disappointed with the small dust bags.

Awful. Do not spend money for that. It does not work on carpets. You would have to spend all long day to vacuum your carpet.
