5.0 out of 5 stars Light weight and good sucking power
So far I'm very happy with this little vacuum. It's very light weight makes it much more maneuverable than a large vacuum and I've been using it to vacuum bookcases and shelves and walls and ceilings that are up off the floor. 1.0 out of 5 stars Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blow 500 Watt
I found the product cumbursome to maneuver and the suction diminished after about 5 minutes of vacuuming. The hose wasn't long enough which caused the vacuum to get josteled around while I vacuumed. Using the attachments directly attached made it difficult to get around the tighter spaces. I was disppointed that it did not meet my expectation and I ended up returning it.

So far I'm very happy with this little vacuum. It's very light weight makes it much more maneuverable than a large vacuum and I've been using it to vacuum bookcases and shelves and walls and ceilings that are up off the floor. It's got great sucking power for something so lightweight. The only problem I have with it is cleaning out the little dust bag inside. It has a tendency to tear if I'm not careful. Also, the end sometimes comes off (revealing the dust bag) while I'm vacuuming if I'm twisting it around too much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metro Vac 12500, February 8, 2010

Great suction power, light weight and does a very good job. I probably wouldn't buy the Vac N Blow, rather, just the Vac N Go, unless you want the pumping capability the "Blow" option offers. I would highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars great for sand and gravel, September 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
My vehicles get a lot of sand, dirt, and small stones tracked into them. Those hand-held "pet hair" vacuums leave much of it behind. This vacuum was able to pick up all the little bits of gravel and sand on the floor boards.

Disagreements with negative reviews:
- I'm sensitive to noise, and I did not find this vacuum too noisy, especially when using it outdoors.
- It did not get uncomfortably or dangerously hot.
- I had no problem with the attachments falling off.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it did not come with filters (only bags). The manufacturer's product insert suggests buying filters to protect the engine. Good idea, so why didn't they include some with the vacuum?

1.0 out of 5 stars Serious problems with locking mechanism, August 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this vacuum about half year ago after I spent quite some time on researching hand held vacuum in amazon web site. One of the main reasons why I picked this one is because of the good reviews in amazon. However, I found this product very unsatisfactory and problematic and I thought I need to bring this up for anyone who may consider buying this. This vacuum has serious problems with locking mechanism and the way the pieces are put together.
The front cap where suction accessaries are attached to unlocks itself too easily in a few minute after start. You have to keep locking the cap or holding it as you clean and it could become quite bothering to you because you wouldn't want to spill your dust by accidently opening the cap. The extension pole that attached to the cap also falls apart too often. I wouldn't go back to or spend any minute on considering the products by this company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprising Quality & Performance, January 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
My Metro Vac-N-Blow VM12500 was purchased last year to replace a secondary battery powered vacuum on a 60' boat. This thing is solid, well made and most importantly has roughly the same high suction as my larger & more expensive Miele primary vacuum. The Metro's superior corded performance easily offset the battery powered vacuum's perceived convenience. The slight increase in size & weight has not been a factor. The dust bag is well sized and easy to clean. I purchased spare dust bags but so far have successfully re-used the original paper dust bag. My technique is to pop off the end housing with the vacuum pointing up (exposing the dirty side of the dust bag but without removing it), then turn the vacuum upside down over the trash while giving it a few taps, pop the end housing back on & keep vacuuming. The Metro Vac quickly became the vacuum of choice and I have since taken the bulky Miele home.

1.0 out of 5 stars More noise than suction, December 29, 2011
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this product after my Oreck hand held bit the dust. Reviews were great but it does not live up to them. Suction is very weak.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful but Somewhat Awkward to Manouver, October 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a sturdy, well-built and powerful vacuum. Its all-metal design and AC power means it's far more powerful than any battery-powered handheld you can buy.

Unfortunately, it's significantly larger than an average handheld. While it's marketed as a "handheld" vacuum you end up holding the canister in one hand while vacuuming with the other hand, meaning you have no hands free to move furniture around, or hold down a stubborn floor mat, etc. Also, it's a bit heavy to just plug the attachment right on to the end of it and use it one-handed like a dustbuster. And of course, you have to plug it in so it's not really that convenient for those quick pick-ups that you might use a dustbuster for. It comes with what looks like a shoulder strap but there's nowhere on the vacuum to attach it. If it had a true shoulder strap, and one additional extension piece you could actually use it to vacuum carpets. As it is, the pipe attachment is not long enough to reach the floor. Also, none of the attachments is wide enough to be usefull when vacuuming a carpet.

I gave it four stars not because of the product quality but simply because I'm not sure how useful it is. It doesn't replace a normal stand-up vacuum that you'd use on your carpets, yet it's not as convenient as a battery-powered handheld. It kind of falls in the middle.

I imagine this vacuum would be perfect in a workroom or garage, or to clean you car, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vacuum and made in USA, March 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Metro Vacuum VM12500 Vac N Blo 120V, 500-Watt Portable Vac/Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
This little guy is one powerful machine. Would you want it to be your regular carpet vacuum? Probably not. I bought this for one specific purpose and it has worked perfectly. My daughter has wood floors in her tri-level condo and complained that she could not get the dog hair out of the cracks of the wood floor with her present vacuum. She also hated hauling that heavy vacuum up three flights of stairs. I found this on Amazon and bought it. I was impressed with how little it weighed when it arrived and I gave it to her to try. She thinks it works perfect and was able to clean her floors without the usual hassle for the first time. It was not too noisy (few if any vacuums are whisper quiet regardless of what they claim)in fact it wasn't anything unusual. The attachments worked well and she has experienced no overheating despite running it for long periods at a time. In addition, its small size makes it a great space saver. Neither the cord or hose are too short or too long. A shoulder strap on the unit allows you to carry it around while in use so there is no need for a longer hose. Neither her or I have tried the blower part yet so I can not comment on that aspect. All I can say is it is powerful, lightweight, handles the job well that it was purchased for and best of all, is made in the USA. Very happy with the purchase.
