Excellent hand vacuum cleaner. Very powerful and rugged. Much better than most of the 'wimpy' plastic items on the market. The only minus is that the nozzles do not fit very 'snuggly' on the inlet pipe and tend to come off if not pushed home properly.
Pity you can't buy a cordless version. I have bought an inverter, connected to a 12v battery, so that I can use it for cleaning the interior of my vehicle.

I have come to the realization in my 42 years of life that one vacuum will not satisfy all my needs. having been a professional vacuumer (hotel) I learned quality was the best starting point. The light Metro VMB4500 is good for around my shop. It is the replacement for a whisk broom and dust pan on my work bench. see where I am going? would I try to clean up all the cat hair in my house with it? thats like using a thimble to fill the bathtub. as the other reviews list the short comings, yes to both but not a deal breaker, I not running it for hours, and duct tape fixes all.
The Pluses are- #1 Made in AMERICA- #2 Light, #3 really works well on the suction part- use one of those "plastic" things at work all the time- it can barley pick up dropped popcorn (reason # 42 for a dog) #4 doesnt die after a few minuets of use.
The cord is heavy duty, I dont see the attachment breaking after a week of use, and the bag can be emptied gently and reused. would buy it again, but wish it had wish it had a flexible hose.

I was looking for a hand-held vacuum for general clean-up in my shop and car and to vacuum the heat-exchanger coil of my home's air conditioning system. The MetroVac fills the bill. It had good suction and comes with a couple of accessories (pictured). Others are available. It uses paper filter bags that can be emptied and re-used a few times. It has a long, flexible line cord which is handy. This only gripe is that while the vac has a couple of rubber feet near the front of the cannister, there is none at the rear. Instead there are a couple of exposed screw heads that could scratch a surface. I replaced one of the screws with a longer screw and a rubber bumper and that helps.

Bought this vacuum cleaner for my father after he complained about the plastic rechargeable ones. I didn't know they had such sturdy hand-held ones available until I saw this one on Amazon. My father (80+years old and very particular) is completely thrilled with it and is amazed at the great job it does. We even found that a rotating power brush and extension from the Eureka upright fits on it and now he doesn't have to stoop to do quick cleanups and stairs. My sister and I are also considering purchasing this vacuum cleaner for ourselves.

Maybe my first one was a lemon, but this one has been great, turns out metro fixed my original and that works good as new, too bad i had to pay for shipping both ways, but hey its fixed and now i have two...not sure i need another, but the original works great, love using it to clean the interior of cars. Needs more little accessories, other than that, great product.

Accessories are brittle and break easily, take care with how you use them because they are not sturdy like the rest of the vacuum. I suggested offering accessories molded from a different plastic that has some give in it like plastic pieces usually do. Their customer service must be like their vacuum cleaners in that it falls apart easily and makes you think you'll be happy until the time comes for you to show how you really feel.

This unit isn't going to win any design awards, looks like something built in the 50's but when you turn this baby on the torque darn near jerks it out of your hands...POWERFUL!!! The suction is as good as any full size shop vac, great for vacuuming your car, great little unit!

This is the best car vac I've ever used. A very strong suction & the blower's good too.

Its extremely noisy and it gets VERY VERY HOT after about 5 minutes of use. Not recommended.

I really like this metro vacuum. It is so much better than the shrill, plastic hand-helds that I've owned. I disagree with the reviews that claim excessive loudness. It is much quieter than typical canister shop vacs and, I would venture, most indoor uprights. I also own a 1960s Pullman Vacmobile (the good old stuff) wheeled commercial shop vac that has to set the bar for quiet, efficient debris pick-up.

A must-have is the six foot Metro flexible hose available from Amazon. It is a great product, and really enhances the usefulness of the vac. I do agree with the post stating that there should be a third plastic foot on the bottom. As delivered, a tripod is formed with two front feet and a machine screw head - not to be dragged about on hardwood flooring! A trip to Home Depot and $2.00 for a set of recessed (counterbored) through-hole rubber feet, and a 10-32 x 1/2" pan-head screw/#8 flat washer rectified the problem.

Another nice touch is a conventional, paper filter bag. I really dislike the tiny, multiple layer filters common to other hand-helds that clog and need to be emptied often. I purchased a set of replacement bags, but I'm still using the first and have only emptied it once.

Overall, very pleased with my purchase. Steel, American made, and inexpensive... What's not to like? -Tom
