I live in a 1400 sq.ft. farmhouse I am restoring. I clean up an awful lot of sawdust/wood chips/dried mortar but I don't often haul out my shop-vac for regular housework. More than a few cobwebs grew on ceilings and under cabinets and such because I need something less than the nuclear option to get at the creepy things.
This thing is perfect as a light-weight corners and crannys and ceilings clean-up. Sucks like a politician's wife (picks up coins) and I don't understand the overheat complaint since even after twenty minutes straight the intake end is ice-cold and the exhaust is hardly warm to the touch, you can hold your hand over it. Bonus: Kitty recovery time is <=two minutes since it doesn't sound like a GE turbofan on takeoff.
I am glad I did not listen to the naysayers, maybe a long-term test will show me some real faults, but I got more done the first few days I used this vac than I did in years before I owned it. Very happy!
The suction is much more powerful than I thought it was going to be. This easily has as much "pick up power" as a full sized vacuum cleaner. Probably to the point that I will buy more accessories and use it beyond my original intent of just cleaning out cob webs, crumbs that fall into the couch and vacuuming my automobile. I know the cons below will seem like a greater number but they are nit-picky. First and foremost a vacuum cleaner needs to have suction power - that is 99% of what you really want it to do. It needs to be able to: Pick. Crap. Up. And, this does quite well.
As everybody cautioned, the hose it ships with is inconveniently short. You think you won't mind but it's too long to wield one-handed but too short to be able to put the canister down. Buy a bigger hose and you will be happier. The power cord is also on the short side. I measured it at just over 11 feet so you will always want an extension cord nearby. The on/off switch is located in a spot where neither your thumb nor fingers can turn it on or off while holding the handle but maybe that's on purpose - I personally don't like that decision.
It's made in the USA - yay! Not much of that anymore, right? So, I was a little bummed to see stickers slapped on it slightly crooked and not completely pressed down in some cases. Boooo! Come on, guys... you can't be making a million of these things so take your time. Have some pride and make people WANT to buy "Made in the USA" again. Cons: size of dust bag, availability of dust bag, price of dust bag, attachments, shoulder strap
Dust bag is tiny! about 4 inches cubed. Bags are expensive & difficult to find. I have ordered a reusable cloth one from Metrovac & will report later on it.
Good suction also means a lot of air must escape - in this vacuum it is condensed into a single stream making it a good blower, but also meaning you must be careful not to point it at dusty spots & so fill the air with what you need to vacuum up.
Poor attachments : Upholstery attachment has sharp edges that catch on fabric, the holes to let air in are poorly placed & easily get blocked when vacuuming looser (fabric) surfaces. Dust brush has (nylon?) bristles that don't really catch the dust. I am using tools from an old vacuum which work much better. Crevice tool is fine.
Shoulder strap is an afterthought. I am planning to find the best angle for the vacuum to hang & then using duct tape to secure it around the body.
This vacuum is okay. Because of the dust bag issues, I debated as to whether I'd return it, but decided to keep it & try for a reusable dust bag solution.
ADDENDUM a couple of days later.... On second use of vacuum, after about 20 minutes of intermittent use, the bag broke (it was not full), dust got into motor & suction dropped to almost none. I suspect bag is not well enough made for strong suction of vacuum or was stressed because I turned the vacuum on & off (when moving things out of the way or plugging into new outlet). Also, as I was using it, the front came off a couple of times even though I carefully fit it over the pins & twisted it to lock. Maybe the bag got worn as I re-twisted the front on? In any case, I revise my review down from 3 to 1 stars.

Good quality suction and convenient size. Bought it primarily to clean cars. My only issue is the hose comes off too easily. I think it could be corrected with a twist on/off hose. Read morePublished 6 days ago by Christian Lomeli

quite powerful for the size, and one of those rare almost all-metal durable things that you can buy, like Rolls-Royce among vacuums.Published 1 month ago by adams
This is probably the worst purchase I've made on Amazon. The hose is way too short, it runs very hot -- it could double as a space heater -- and it just feels cheap. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Honest Helen
