After struggling with a $20 vacuum for shop and car cleanup, I bought the Metrovac. Sure enough, as others reported, it pulls a mighty vacuum and is relatively light and quiet. The container is large enough to clean Florida sand from our cars many times, and few grains escape its powerful suction. The power and size are remarkable. Less remarkable is overall quality. My unit arrived poorly packed with many small dents in the outer steel cannister. The short extension hose seems of good quality but the other accessories are thin plastic and are not precisely molded. The on-off switch is strictly 1940's and hard to reach. The handle seems taken from cheap luggage. Soft start motor technology would be a great help because the unit jerks significantly on startup. There are no legs or feet so if started on the ground, it is unstable and wants to roll away. A pair of "W" shaped legs welded to the shell would be a great help. I run a custom shop so wanted the cannister repainted with flames. When I disassembled the Metrovac, I discovered stone age build quality. The motor end end-cap is held on by three tiny sheet metal screws. Where machine screws should be used on the motor brackets, there were sheet metal screws, and the motor brackets were bent. Two quick release clamps retain the vacuum end end-cap. Both dented the steel cannister as if too much force had been used to set the retaining rivets. Once disassembled, it is easy to understand dents in the cannister - the steel is soft and thin. Internal build quality is reminiscent of something designed 50 years ago and never updated. Judging by the amount of metal drillings in the cannister, it appears that there is very little pride in construction and virtually no quality control. The little machine is handy, but in serious need of modern updates and quality control.

I tried to purchase this vac from Amazon but they kept sending me busted machines for some reason. But once I got it from another site - WOW - this is the single most efficient and powerful vacuum I've ever had. It is GREAT!!!
I got the model with wheels and a strap for carrying up the stairs and extra long hose. It is perfect for hard to reach places. All I can say EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. EVERY HOME SHOULD HAVE ONE.

This is hands down the most powerful vacuum cleaner/blower I've ever seen. The built quality and design seem WWII-like- almost acceptable, but could have been made from thicker metal, mine arrived all beat up because the manufacturer box has no padding, and amazon didn't do such a hot job packing their box either. The vacuum bag is rather small at maybe 4 to 6 cups, but so is the vaccum so who cares. The blower side is so powerful that the vaccum jumps around when you try to wrangle it when cleaning stuff, blowing whatever is nearby all over the place. I cannot wait to get a well packed one that I can dent up myself

THIS IS THE GREATEST LITTLE VACUUM. IT'S LIGHTWEIGHT, POWERFUL, AND QUIET. I GIVE THEM TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY AS GIFTS AND THEY ARE THILLED. THEY NOW REQUEST IT! THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I CAN FIND TO BUY THEM. I USED TO GET IT AT RESTORATION HARDWARE.

This little vacuum will simply amaze you..you know those grains of sand you get in the carpet..it picks them up with only one pass..my biggest problem was having to use my other hand to hold the car carpet matts down while I vacuumed them..as the van n blow was lifting them off the floor..I cleaned up all the dust and lint around my computer...and on top of the entertainment center..initially I was just looking for a really good auto vacuum(I got the micro-tools also)..but as you can see there are so many uses .you will have no regrets believe me..stop paying 4 buck everytime you go to the car wash to use the vacuum...this hummer will have your car interior looking like new..

This portable vacuum cleaner has the power of the largest home vacuum cleaners. It is constructed of metal, which makes the unit heavy compared to the weak hand-held rechargable dust-busters, but the portablility of the sheer power has been very useful for us in vacuuming the interior of a car, over the glass top of a large custom fish tank, or for a focused spill of dry material. This is a highest quality, strongly and durably built, serious piece of machinery that hasn't compromised by joining the age of cheap plastic devices. You will have to pay for such quality. It is well worth it if you can afford it and if you need such a capability. Lastly, you will need an extension cord with this unit since the attached cord is less than one foot long.

This is a great vacuum. Small and very powerful and can be used as a blower. The vacuum wasn't packaged very well when it was shippid though, I can see a small dent on it. It seems to run fine. The directions were a bit thin too. I would buy this again without a doubt.

This vacuum is very good it actually does what they say it does. The only thing bad is the switch is a little unhandy but not terrible.

I have been using the Vac N'Blo for the past few weeks in my dog grooming business (the one I purchased is identical to the ones sold in the pet supply catalogues, only cheaper). It works quite well blowing excess water off the big dogs, speeding up the drying process. I have another Metro blower and this one is a lot more powerful. I haven't used the vacuum feature very often but the times I did the suction seemed terrific. I like the fact that you do not have to buy extra bags for it, although it does fill up rather quickly. But for small jobs, it's great.

There are two drawbacks. The first is that the power cord is only about six inches long. I need to plug it into a surge protector because it doesn't even reach the outlet. The other problem is that the hose is also too short. I have substituted the hose from my other Metro dryer and that works just fine.

I would give this five stars if the power cord and hose were longer.

After reading the other reviews about the poor condition some people received their vacuum, I just had to write that mine arrived in perfect shape. The box was perfect and there wasn't a mark on the vacuum itself. Maybe I got lucky? Anyway, I used the vacuum on my car and it did a tremendous job. Usually after vacuuming the mats I can still shake a lot of dust out, but there was none left after using the Metro. I actually bought this vacuum to use on my horses because the same model as a horse vacuum was $100 more (go figure!). So after the job it did on my filthy car carpets, I'm sure it'll work great on my muddy horses. Great machine!

I also have to comment on the quick shipping I got from Amazon. I ordered my vacuum on Jan 16 and opted for the free shipping and received an estimate of January 29th for a shipping date. But I got it on Jan 18th! Thumbs up for Amazon shipping!
