Having defeated Mother Brain and her gang of pirates, Samus Aran is called upon to journey to the planet SR388, the home of the Metroid (a jelly fish like life form). This life form has the capability to absorb the energy of any life forme it catches.Since contact was lost with 2 research teams, her mission is to destroy all metroids on the planet. This, however, proves to be easier said then done, due to the presence, not only of other life formes, and machanical defences, but also of slime capable of draining her energy. As a result of these, I found this game very enjoyable, and chalenging. The addition of features such as "the spider ball", "the space jump boots", as well as the "spazer", and "plasma" beams, added to the excitement of this game. The reader will also find all but one feature from the original "Metroid" available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Metroid at It's Best, November 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
First off, This is an extremely great game for those who liked Metroid and wanted to continue the story of the game. The game is a really great game and is what you have come to expect from the Metroid series, a really fun game. The concept of the game revolves around the idea that, Samus, goes to the a planet to investigate some kind of investation. This turns out to be Metroids a class of Aliens she encountered in the original game and you must go through and wipe them out from the planet before they have the ability to spread. The graphics of the game are relatively good for the time the game premiered coming out in the early 90's but the game is still a fun game despite the matter of graphics. Playability is pretty simple as it is a simple control scheme that anyone can quickly get used to and the entertainment factor keeps you playing for a while when you are in the car on a road trip. As far as replay value it is pretty cut and dry. The game progresses through and begs you to beat it, so eventually you probably will. Anyway, I enjoyed this game a great deal [or I wouldn't have given it five stars] and I recommend that you try to pick it up so you could have a little slice of Metroid joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Gameboy games ever, December 4, 2001

I bought Metroid II the day it came out back in 1991, and since that day it has been my favorite Gameboy game, and one of my favorite games on any system. The graphics were far superior to its NES predecessor, which made me love this game from the start. The game play is extremely easy to pick up, and very responsive to what you want it to do. AND, the levels are vast and fun to explore for a few hours. Let's face it; it doesn't get much better than playing as Samus and shooting up the Metroid.

This game picks up where the original Metroid left off. You are Samus Aran, and you work for the Galactic Federation to fight evil. Lately the evil has been a species called the Metroid. In the first game, Samus defeated the Metroid on another planet including the Mother Brain. In this game Samus travels to the Metroid's home planet to take em all out. This game really stands out compared any other black and white Gameboy game, and it even rivals new Gameboy Color and Advance stuff. The Metroid series is one of the best Nintendo has to offer, and I recommend anyone buy a game that boasts Samus Aran as a character.

4.0 out of 5 stars They should remake this next, April 19, 2004
This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
After playing Metroid, Super MEtroid, MEtroid PRime, Fusion, and Zero I realized that the only one I had not played/beaten yet was the Gameboy version of Metroid, MEtroid 2. SO I went on one of my legendary hunts for this and low and behold I found it. A few hours Later I had beaten it and left me with some interesting thoughts.

The Story here is that Samus Arron has defeated Mother Brain and her space pirates on Planet Zebes, her next assignment is the exterminate the Metroids. So it is from here that the game begins. You must eliminate 37 or so Metroids scattered throughout the caverns of the Planet, but the metroids are not like the ones from before, as these particular breed have mutated to a more evolved state.

This game is interesting in that it is still classic Metroid fun, but with a few complaints. The First one is that the game is real short. The nesxt is when it comes to gathering powerups those too happen fast. Within a fifteen minute time span (all in one to two areas) I went from the Ice Beam to the Wave to Spazer to Plasma beam. That was in a fifteen minute slot. The final is that outside of the Final Boss, there are no other major bosses. Unlike the first in which you had to Face Ridley and Kraid first in order to proceed, this one just throws at you one of the four evolved forms of the metroids to deal with.

I am not saying that this is a bad game but if you have become hooked to say Fusion or Zero than this game is a step down for you (and if you only played Prime well avoid all together). However if you are a die hard collector or are interested in the full story than this game is a must have in the legacy. Just be warned it's short and sweet but with a hard edge (difficulty).

I really enjoy this game from the beginning to end.. well when I started playing it.. it sure was hard.. but after I finish the game a few times I was able to set a record.. My record in finishing this game was 4 hours and some.. but I really like it.. I still love.. and own it. I like the several types of guns, and the armor she gets.. as you play you are able to get extra life.. but some of them are really hided. if you want some truly hours of fun.. get this game.. actually it had higher price from now when I got it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Fun Game, December 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
This a pretty good game, definitely worth the price. It's pretty complicated and you can get lost in the giant world but once you know your way around it turns into a lot of fun. Your goal is to basically wipe out the Metroids while upgrading your weapons to finally take out the mother of them all. Hope this was helpful

This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
I've played this game int eh past and it was fun to revisit it, even if it was short as compared to most fo the others one to be had. I like the game simply for its replayability and seeking of missing parts, if any.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good game to add to your collection, March 16, 2004
This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
Now this is a fun game. I tell you what. This is a fun game. I got mine off ebay (sorry amazon but the prices...) anywho the game is really cool. i think theres like 39 metroids you have to kill but the deal is yoru go though the disturbed planet fothe metroid sr388 and have to kill them all. and after you kill a certain amount theres this rumble and the lava in a big shaft room goes down to the next floor and this goes on for like 4 times. When you then get close to the "lordess" metroid -so fine- you have to fight i think 9 new metroids! which is a add on the prevoious 39 so technically theres 48 (49 if you include the queen) anyways then you anilate the lordess and for some reason on my game theres this weird red line on the wall but whatever it goes donw after teh battle and for some ohter reason theres a little excape hole under the lordess. so i guess you can wimp out and excape kinda ruins the point of a boss if you can jsut "escape"?! but oh well after you defeat IT. then a baby metroid hatches (jimminy crickets where do all these things come from!!!! fun never ends with metroid 2 ;) but then you escape the terrifing planet and go to your ship. THE END review DARN GOOD GAME

5.0 out of 5 stars Samus rocks!, July 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Metroid II (Game Cartridge)
Though I have never played any other game that has Samus in it except Super smash bros. this game rocks! Also it is very challenging, considering I have not even beat it yet, and I have had this game for almost 2 years! The point of the game is to defeat all the metroids. The mother metroid is the last one. and as you progress through you find different upgrades and harder types of metroids. Graphics are of good quality considering the game and I LIKE the soudtrack. The main Character is Samus Aran. If you are a gamer who likes hard games this one is for you.
