Fun, funky, and oh-so-retro, the Mighty OJ Juicer not only makes squeezing limes, lemons, and small oranges a snap but claims a home in the Museum of Modern Art for its classic design. With durable all-metal construction, this particular model features a white baked-enamel body and a brightly polished chrome top and handle. Thanks to the rack-and-pinion gear system, up to 600 pounds of pressure are exerted on a citrus half during squeezing, so that every drop of juice is extracted from the fruit. No electricity is needed, and therefore there's no motor to burn out; the juicer is completely hand-operated. After use, the stainless-steel cone and funnel are easily removed and rinsed clean under running water. Weighing 4-1/2 pounds and standing 7-1/2 inches tall, the juicer takes up very little counter space and is covered by a lifetime warranty on moving parts. --Ann Bieri

It is well made and sturdy and continues to work like a champ!

You cannot juice oranges with this juicer, mandarin oranges perhaps but not regular sized oranges.

So while I love to look at it, I can't recommend that anyone else spend their money on it.

I used the Mighty OJ for many years. This latest purchase was for a friend. It has a small footprint and is great for limes and lemons, less great for oranges (they are too big). There are some problems. It's gear driven and the metal wears out after a few years (you'll notice metal shavings on the counter, not in the juice). More recently my son bought me a much bigger-deal manual squeezer. It cost 3 times as much as the Mighty OJ, is much bigger, and works only a little better. No electric juicer seems to work as well as either of these manual juicers.

It's true that this juicer works best with small oranges, as it won't get all the juice out of the bigger ones, and they might not even fit in the space provided to press them.

But with the right size oranges, it works very well, and extract all the juice. I've been using it a lot this winter for fresh orange juice full of vitamins!

We use this juicer for limes when we make margaritas - it works perfectly!

I have owned two of these machines. I am not a large person, but the pressure I was able to exert to press out the orange juice simply overwhelmed the gears on this manual machine, even though the gears are metal; in both instances, the gear was stripped, the second time in well under a year. At $50 a whack, you are better off with a cheap electronic juicer.

I'm not sure why some people are having problems with large citrus. I just got a full glass of juice from a grapefruit; I quartered it like the manual told me to. I got this last year and have loved it. It's nice and heavy duty so it's very stable on the counter. Cleanup is very simple, you just pop off the metal funnel and squeeze plate and rinse them off then rinse off the whole juicer. I've never had a problem with this being hard to clean. I usually don't like "uni-taskers" in the kitchen but I couldn't imagine anything else being easier to use to juice citrus.

This dreadful little machine is too small to juice a medium to large orange. It will juice a small Valencia, but not very effectively. I would love to have my money back or even 1/2 my money back.

Don't buy this "juicer."

Only used the unit several times for lemons and the cast aluminum gear broke. I contacted the company several times and no response. I then sent the email to everyone on the contact list and got a response. I requested ordering information for the gear and they advised me I would have to send the unit back, with a $10.00 check and they would check it. They advised if defective they would replace it. Shipping to and from would cost almost as much as the unit did. I again requested ordering information on the part and they advised me they didn't sell parts and would not assist in any way other than me spend more money to get a new unit. My neighbor had the same problem and they would not send him the part either. Quality unit for lemons but bad customer service.

We bought this juicer less than a year ago and the base is already cracked and the juicer is not likely to last much longer. When we pull down the handle now we have to be careful that the juicer doesn't topple as the crack has caused it to be unbalanced. Pay the extra money and get a better model.
