I am struggling trying to find the best wine opener....so far so bad.
I bought this and figured it would do its job well.....wow was I wrong. First - this thing weighs as much as some full wine bottles.... Second its very confusing in how it works with its latching system.... I tried it on 2-3 bottles and just ended up going back to my $5 solution to open bottles. If you are looking for something that looks cool then this item is for you... However, if you are a casual wine drinker at home, then this is probably not something you need....any cork screw will work fine. 3/5 in my humble opinion.

This gadget looks space age and will extract a cork as advertised. That positive comment doesn't address what happens when the bottler changes to synthetic "corks." The screw enters as usual but when you attempt to push down on the wings the bottle starts spinning. The solution is to hold the wings and the neck of the bottle (contortionists please apply) and press the wings until the "cork" comes out. This one was designed for real corks and if your bottles always have such you'll be quite happy with the Metrokane.

I was very disappointed with the way this product performed. It does not seat properly on the top of the bottle, thus the screw enters the cork off center making pulling difficult and resulting with a ruin cork with cork particles inside the bottle.
