I am struggling trying to find the best wine opener....so far so bad.

I bought this and figured it would do its job well.....wow was I wrong.

First - this thing weighs as much as some full wine bottles....

Second its very confusing in how it works with its latching system....

I tried it on 2-3 bottles and just ended up going back to my $5 solution to open bottles.

If you are looking for something that looks cool then this item is for you... However, if you are a casual wine drinker at home, then this is probably not something you need....any cork screw will work fine.

3/5 in my humble opinion.

This gadget looks space age and will extract a cork as advertised. That positive comment doesn't address what happens when the bottler changes to synthetic "corks." The screw enters as usual but when you attempt to push down on the wings the bottle starts spinning. The solution is to hold the wings and the neck of the bottle (contortionists please apply) and press the wings until the "cork" comes out. This one was designed for real corks and if your bottles always have such you'll be quite happy with the Metrokane.

I was very disappointed with the way this product performed. It does not seat properly on the top of the bottle, thus the screw enters the cork off center making pulling difficult and resulting with a ruin cork with cork particles inside the bottle.

Somehow my husband broke our old one and we've been looking for one with these features that was less expensive than the ones they sell in wine shops.

This corkscrew is just ok, it has been working but the plastic material does not seem to be strong enough. Some times when I pull the the cork from the bottle, it fells the corkscrew is going to break. Or some how it can run away from the bottle...corkscrew does not attach in a safe way in the bottle....
I don't think I would buy another one....

I had bought a more expensive opener at a local department store, which would work right in one out of three times. This one works every time, is easy to store and was almost half the cost.

took a few times before I could figure out how it works, but then it does the job quickly and easily. Except the Dr. says no more wine. Looking for soda with cork tops.

we don't drink but out friends come over and adult children do and I was looking for a simple, great, yet inexpensive because we don't use one, easy wineopener. One of my sons has a tall tabletop simple and it is everyone's envy. Well, freinds and adult children tried our new Metrokane and were blown away at the easy, simple use, quality, size, packaging, and price of our Metrokane. I am thrilled with their reviews and pleasure of this product.

This is the best product for someone that drinks a lot of wine. It easy to use and hard to put on the cork shrew on lopsided

It works. I handed it to a friend and asked him to open a bottle. He had to play with it to get it just right. It started a conversation about real corks and fake ones. I'll use my old one till another guest comes over.
