5.0 out of 5 stars A better martini shaker
This shaker won Cook's Illustrated test of martini shakers late in 2005, just before the Christmas season. Branded as a Target shaker, it was out of stock before you could click "buy." I finally figured out it was the Metrokane Bullet and ordered it asap. It *does* live up to the hype, on one factor alone. It doesn't drip or spill when pouring. Yes, it's stainless...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to open
Just got this the other day and only used it once so far. In the looks department it's great. Very elegant. In the mix your first drink department it works like a charm and is easier to use, less messy, and has better capacity than my old Boston-style shaker. But in the ergonomics department, it leaves something to be desired. After my first shaken cocktail, I wanted...

Yes, it's stainless steel, it's elegant (if not a little too phallic for some,) it's large enough to mix two *good sized* martinis, and...so what? Each of the other 5 cocktail shakers I've owned had these things going for them (but with more traditional tapered profiles.) But they all leaked when I removed the top/jigger measure from the body of the shaker. The Metrokane is one of the few shakers that has the lid fit inside the neck of the main shaker, so that it is easily removed to pour without any liquid loss or mess. All parts are well made and fit, but are easily detached for cleaning or refilling.
So long as the shape doesn't bother you, this is the best martini shaker no doubt. Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars great shaker, February 25, 2003

this shaker works better than most as its top cover is set so that when you're done shaking all the liquid drains back into the shaker instead of that little bit the spills out like most shakers

Just got this the other day and only used it once so far. In the looks department it's great. Very elegant. In the mix your first drink department it works like a charm and is easier to use, less messy, and has better capacity than my old Boston-style shaker. But in the ergonomics department, it leaves something to be desired. After my first shaken cocktail, I wanted to pull the top off to rinse it out before the lime pulp dried on the strainer. I could not reoopen it. Tried everything, including a dish towel and silicon mat to get traction, but no, it wouldn't open. I ran hot water over it three successive times to "shrink" the metal to loosen the cover. Finally, on the third try, it came open. If I'm only mixing one drink at a time for myself and not expecting to have a second fine. But if I have a party going and want to mix for a crowd, this would definitely be a problem. I will try the hot water trick the next time I use it, but to have to do that is quite an annoyance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, but....., September 27, 2010

This shaker looks really classy and has that "wow" effect - BUT, it is impossible to separate the lid and the tube! I had read about this (major) shortcoming in another review, but figured it couldn't be that bad - guess what? IT IS. I've had it for 4 weeks and have tried everything - heat, cold, brute strength - yet still can't get it open. I'd send it back, but I threw away all the wrappings. It looks really neat on the bar, though - now, if it would only work....

This shaker is definately a keeper! Solid, sleek, and bigger than many at 28-ounces, I can mix for a group instead of individually.

I'll be brief. It's not true stainless, the design is OK, nothing special, looks like a sex toy to be honest with you. It feels extremely cheap, thin steel, poor workmanship, visible dents and dings from the machining process - I would give it 5 stars if it was $5.99. This thing is being returned asap, a true lo-grade quality product.

This is a good looking, reasonably priced cocktail shaker. The first time we used it, however, 'strainer' top wouldn't separate from the canister after pouring the drink. I tried cooling the metal, heating it (why not?) but nothing helped. I've owned many shakers, and while an occasional stick top is expected, this was the worst I've encountered.

A perfect accessory for my mini-bar. It gets used 1-3 times a week for my love of martinis and cosmos.

It doesn't leak. None of the parts are loose. It's stylish.

If you like the look, don't think twice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Shaker, November 22, 2010

I had read 99% good comments and purchased this. Actually rushed it in for a Martini Tasting Party. It was the hit of the Party. Solid, and yes instantly noted by the women as 'Phallic' but hey, that was 1/2 the fun, it performed perfectly.

Now what 'can' stick a bit is the lit inside the top cap. But it takes 1 second to release. That is the price you pay for no leaks, and I will take it. Plus it doesn't matter, just poor away. It is huge at 28 ounces so I never mix one drink at a time, it works perfect in this area.

So buy with confidence. it is solid, cleans easiy (do handwash, hey you want shiny, hand wash) and looks great in my display case.

Fun, solid, attention getting. You want girls to pay attention as you mix your drinks, This is the one !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'd give it a 5 without the dent!, April 11, 2008
This review is from: Metrokane Bullet Cocktail Shaker (Kitchen)
This is a great cocktail shaker. Good party size. It's clean lines just scream martini. Thanks to a poor job of packing, however, the "bullet" top (which is mere decoration and not necessary for operation) arrived with a small dent. I assume this is the fault of Target and not Amazon. Having read the woes of others who purchased this same shaker, I'll live with it. I'll shake up an Espresso-tini and make up a more interesting story about the dent. Cheers!
