I was kind of wary as these are lower cost and made in China. But these turned out to be very nice. The faux leather is waterproof, and has a pebbled pattern, which looks very nice. The exterior of the flask is polished very nicely, and the bottom had the Metrokane logo and "stainless steel" stamped into it. Nice to see there is no "Made in China" marked anywhere on the flask, though it is on the box (for gift giving). The faux leather has a slight chemical smell out of the box, but I would guess this would go away with time. The omission of a funnel for filling was disappointing.

This is a very cute gift and seems like it will last a long time! It's a good size so you can pretty much bring it anywhere! No complaints as of yet.

I purchased this flask to take along while skiing. It's perfect! Fits easily in my pocket and hold a full 8 ounces! I did read other reviews before purchasing it and was a little concerned that it would be difficult to fill. I didn't spill a drop while filling mine! I would highly recommend it. A great value.

I am a very hard person to convince.

I had my eye on this product for quite some time before buying it. It fit all of my requirements for a good flask. I wanted something in stainless steel, and possessing a six to eight oz capacity. These requirements, of course, are fit by 99% of the flasks here on amazon, which brings me to my third requirement: it had to be wrapped in an attractive, fake leather.

The Metrokane Houdini flask appeared to fit all of these perfectly, and had the added benefit of being name brand Metrokane also makes those fancy Rabbit wine bottle openers that are all the rage these days). And at only fifteen dollars, what a deal! However, some reviews of this product, especially the recent ones, attested to its poor quality. "The fake leather looks real, but out of the box it was already peeling off," wrote K. Smith, reviewing the product on March 6th, 2011. Other reviewers agreed. "Right out of the box, the cheap adhesive used to stick the faux leather to the flask is coming off. Disappointed." stated Ghanta Ravikiran on Febuary 16th of the same year.

When reading these poor endorsements of the product, I was able to convince myself that these poor saps had just received the odd factory defect, and I would not be so unfortunate. However, upon opening the package, pulling the flask out, flipping it over and inspecting the seal, I found that these recent reviews of the product were right on the money. The poor quality adhesive was not even holding the sides of the faux leather down; it was peeling off right before my eyes. Furthermore, the poor glue was seeping out around the edges, creating a sticky medium that will be likely to catch much debris and lint as it sits in my pocket.

Is this such a big deal? To some people, no. I was actually able to somewhat repair the leather by applying a small amount of hot glue to the seam. I can't vouch for how this will hold in the near future but, as of yesterday, it is still holding. I am probably going to do some more research for a higher quality leather bound flask, so this will be my throw-around, because an item of this poor quality certainly does not meet my standards to be called high class.

I will conclude this review with a request. Fellow purchasers, please do not fall into the same trap I did. As of May 12th, I make the fifth person to be faced with this dilemma. I should have heeded the reviews, but I did not. Five people is not a coincidence; this flask has certainly gone down in quality since the other shining reviews of it. Please, please do not make the same mistake as five others, and look for a better flask. You will be doing yourself a favor.

After reading other reviews, I purchased this as a gift. I removed it from the packaging before wrapping it to check it out. I was very pleased with the construction and attractive appearance.

The person I gave it to recently took it on a two week ski trip and reports back that it never leaks, is easy to open and close and loves it!

I bought this for my husband (for Christmas) to use for his bourbon when he goes out for poker night. Even though I read the reviews, I figured that the flask that I ordered wouldnt have the cover peeling off. Well, I was wrong. It was peeling right out of the box. Tried using super glue, but even that isnt holding.

I'll probably end up taking the cover off and having it bound in real leather.

It came with the fake "leather" peeling off. I was foolish to think it wouldn't be like that on mine after reading all the reviews. I cant believe amazon still allows this seller to sell products on its website. I should have listened to the reviews and the pictures demonstrating the products flaws. I only gave it 1 star because it is the required minimum to post a review.

I think it is funny how many people slam this item because the faux leather is peeling off! Take away a star but it's hardly useless because of it. It is 100% correct though. Was peeling when I opened it up the first time. Just put a little glue on it and it's fixed. Looks nice and should do the job for an upcoming vacation!

Cheaply made! Product looks great out of the box but the imitation leather is pealing off and all it's done is sit on the shelf of my bar. It has never been used, washed or anything. I guess I will have to get some industrial strength clue and so it myself.

Have used this flask minimally and it is coming UNGLUED. Not even a year old and the "leather" wrap is peeling off. In 2 words...CHEAP JUNK.
