Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Many wine connoisseurs are already familiar with the fast and furious cork-pulling action of Metrokane’s Rabbit corkscrew. This bunny-eared device makes an excellent companion to the corkscrew for those evenings when you can’t quite finish an entire bottle of wine. The Rabbit vacuum pump comes with two rubber push-button stoppers, which you insert into the top of your half-empty wine bottle. The pump positions over the stopper and, using the two lower handles, grips the neck of the wine bottle. The vacuum pump, operating similarly to the corkscrew, requires just four swift pumps on the ear-like handle to draw most of the air from your wine bottle (which can destroy the properties and flavor of your wine). This durable device has all-metal gear teeth and a soft, anti-slip coating on all handles to provide a solid grip. --Cristina Vaamonde

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk, September 3, 2004

I don't bother to review items generally but this was an exceptionally bad piece of junk that I wish I had saved the box so I could have returned (which I also don't usually bother about). I love my lever pull corkscrew and thought this product would live up to that level of quality. I couldn't ever get any suction no matter how hard I tried and just tossed it in the garbage and chalked it up to the lesson of not tossing the box until you have tested the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Better off with a $5 wine vacuum....., July 20, 2004
This review is from: Metrokane Rabbit Lever Vacuum Pump, Black Velvet (Kitchen)
I was very excited about this product as I like the corkscrew they make. Unfortunately this product simply does not work. We have thrown it away and gone back to the $5 models that actually preserve the wine.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rabbit Vacuum Pump a "Fizzle", August 20, 2004
This review is from: Metrokane Rabbit Lever Vacuum Pump, Black Velvet (Kitchen)
I like my Rabbit Corkscrew, and when I saw that it had a companion, The Rabbit Lever VACUUM Pump to preserve the wine in an opened bottle, I was sure that it would be the same quality. BUT, beware the so called less effort-just 4 swift pumps of the lever (or even 10 pumps ) does a minimal job of creating any vacuum in the opened bottle. A real bust for $30.00. In addition , we have had no response from our complaints and return of product from the Metrokane Co.
