Product Description

Metrokane 6905 Vertical Rabbit Lever Style Corkscrew with Foil Cutter, Metallic Red

Did you know?

Our worms are rated for up to 1,000 cork pulls each? There is one already installed on the corkscrew, and an extra included in the set. With this set alone, 2,000 bottles of wine can be opened, no problem.

A redesigned spin on a classic

introducing the Vertical Rabbit Lever Style Corkscrew

We couldn't design a better corkscrew than the original Rabbit, so we designed a totally different one. We call it The Vertical Rabbit, because it stands up on the wine bottle and is operated vertically. Like the Original Rabbit, it pulls corks in three seconds, ejects the cork automatically and carries a 10-year warranty.

  • Pulls a cork in 3-seconds flat
  • Automatically releases cork after it pulls it out, no more fussing with the old cork
  • Works on all bottle sizes and cork types
  • Foil cutter and an extra spiral included with the item.
  • 10 year warranty

Easy to use

Use the foil cutter to remove the outer foil seal

Turn the cutter around the bottleneck to cut the foil.

Position the Rabbit

Place the Rabbit snugly on the bottleneck so it fits snug.

Pull the lever

Holding firmly, pull the lever up and then back down to remove the cork. Sit back and enjoy a glass of wine!

Rabbit is the best way to Open, Serve, and Preserve your wine

For many people, the name Rabbit is synonymous with effortlessly opening bottles of wine. The Rabbit is no longer just about opening your bottles of wine anymore, as the same innovation and quality that you are familiar with has been extended to a larger line of wine accessories. From the person drinking their first bottle of wine to an experienced oenophile, Rabbit will make your wine experience more enjoyable. Now Rabbit can help you open, serve, and preserve your wine in style!

This is the newly designed "Vertical Rabbit" wine opener. I purchased The original version about 5 years ago. It worked OK, but was cumbersome and awkward to use. This new design is TERRIFIC !!!!!!

Here's what you do to open a bottle:
1. Squeeze and Rotate the supplied foil cutter to cut the top of the foil off
2. Slide the black opener over the top of the bottle with the silver handle raised
3. Grasp the opener firmly as you push the silver handle down...then pull it up again....POP....the cork (real or synthetic) is out!!!
4. Repeat (3) again to eject the cork from the opener
(NOTE: gorilla strength NOT required)

My first reaction was, "THIS CAN'T BE THAT EASY!"...but it is, because the same thing has happened over and over since then.

Finally, for storage the new design stands up on a shelf...or lies down in a drawer (unlike its bulky predecessor). The clear plastic storage case can also be used because it contains a replacement corkscrew.

This is a no-brainer must-get...Highly Recommended!!

Not long ago I wrote a review of the Screwpull Revolutionary New Lever Pull. I've since also acquired a Metrokane Vertical Rabbit and I'm so happy with it that I feel compelled to write a review on it as well.

While the Screwpull is lovely and sculptural, the Metrokane is sexy and fun. The former is priced from $130 to $150 on Amazon, and the latter is $50 to $60. Each comes with a foil cutter, but the Metrokane also comes with a replacement screw. The Screwpull arrives in a very attractive leather presentation case which would look good anywhere, whereas the Metrokane arrives in a hinged plastic container which you could probably throw away. The taller and more angular Screwpull seems to be largely made of metal and has a noticable heft; the Metrokane handle is made of metal, but the body is plastic. It doesn't feel nearly as substanial as the Screwpull, but I don't find that to be a problem. Both pullers stand upright and would look fine perched on a table or sideboard.

As of this writing, the taller and more angular Screwpull seems to be offered only in satin with black accents, and the curvy Metrokane in black, gunmetal gray, and the one I bought, candy apple red. The Vertial Rabbit, true to its name, has a hint of an eye on either side so when looked at in profile, it gives the appearance of a rabbit. I probably should deduct a star for too much cuteness, but that's part of the fun of the Rabbit.

The operation of the two is somewhat different. The base of the Screwpull ia sprung open and must be squeezed to hold it onto the bottle. The lever is then thrown more than 180 degrees to pierce the cork, and then brought back the same amoount to remove it from the bottle. The cork is removed from the device by throwing the lever back and forth once more.

I bought one of these late last year and it broke after very little use. Not the normal problem that a new screw would resolve but a much more significant failure. I sent it to Metrokane (the manufacturer)for replacement with a $10.00 bank draft as instructed under it's 10 year warranty and have got nothing in return. I have exchanged emails with their service department multiple times. They respond saying they are sending it right away and then they don't. Each time ie is a different reason/excuse. They never actually volunteer this information but instead I wait for 3 or4 weeks and send an email and that's when they come up with a excuse. This cycle has happened 3 times now and I have been waiting nearly 3 months.
Do not buy this product and do not deal with MetroKane!

I bought this one a year and a half ago to replace an older model Rabbit which died after many years. It looks great and worked OK at first (although it does feel a lot flimsier that the original), but after several months it became sporatic, sometimes opening fine and sometimes not. Now, after a year and a half and less than 100 corks total, it either pushes the cork into the bottle or merely pushes the corkscrew in and out of the cork without removing it. I have gone to the Metrokane website and followed their instructions carefully. I also called them, but the phone message just refers you to their website. They say most defects are due to operator error, but I have been using their product for over ten years and I don't think it's me!

Color Name: Gun Metal Grey Verified Purchase
I open 1-2 bottles of wine a week and prior to purchasing the Vertical Rabbit, owned an inexpensive three handle rabit opener as well as a teflon coated screw top type. The three handle rabbit worked fine for a couple of years, though it took a bit of coordination for guests to use. However, it later gave out, and would simply screw in and out without extracting the cork. So I went back to my teflon coated screw type and it worked well with a bit of twisting effort, until the plastic broke.

So in this search I wanted a better quality product that was still easy to use. After ready many positive reviews on the Metrokane Vertical Rabbit, I decided to give it a try.

Ease of use: This corkscrew takes a couple bottles to get used to, but once you do, it is very easy to use. Because it requires some pressure around the base, I would say this is not ideal for women with small hands. My wife is taller and can use it just fine. The lack of side handles is a plus in my mind. Simply raise the lever up, drop over the bottle, squeeze, and press down on the lever. Then repeat off the bottle and the cork drops off effortlessly. Couldn't be more beautifully simple. The foil cutter works well for both lead and plastic foils in my experience.

Build Quality: The packaging is very attractive and would make a nice gift. The corkscrew itself is overall well built. The lever is heavy metal with rubber inserts for comfort and grip. I was surprised that the base was plastic, as it looked like metal in the pictures (nice paint job). However, since the pressure is primarily on the lever and the base is spread around the bottle top, I think it will hold up. And I suppose all metal construction would be a bit heavy.

Summary: The Veritical Rabbit does what it is supposed to and does it well. It looks great too. While the price is a bit steap for a corkscrew, if you enjoy wine and gadgets, I think you will find it to be worth it.
