Metrokane Replacement Worm for Rabbit and Houdini Corkscrews

My Metrokane Rabbit was getting harder and harder to use, and I was about to search for a new one. But for $10, I figured this would not hurt to try. Voila! It is a BIG help. It is much easier now to get the worm into the cork, and to get the cork out of the worm when done.

BTW, I had no idea the worm was replaceable but it turn out to be obvious when I saw the new one. There is a cap on top of the gadget that holds the worm. It unscrews, and the worm just slides up through it.

With Sharper Image out of business, I was concerned about finding a replacement for the worm in their 'rabbit'-type lever corkscrew I have used for years. This replacement worm is identical to the spare provided with the original corkscrew, and is priced well.

At one time we LOVED our RABBIT wine opener but after a few years it became almost impossible to open a bottle of wine. We complained and complained but never did anything about it until last month when we ordered a new WORM. It now works like a charm.

After I bent the worm beyond recognition, I sent away for a replacement. In the meantime, I managed to lose the end cap screw that needed to be removed to replace the worm. I called Metrokane's Customer Service Dept and Camille asked for my address and sent me a replacement part (not generally available). Great folks!

If you own a Metrokane Rabbit and you've had it for over a year (and you drink a lot of wine) you probably need a replacement worm. I replaced the worm on mine and it's like I have a brand new Rabbit.

Didn't fit the rabbit, was loose.
Followed instructions kept all the parts from the previous corkscrew but it just didn't fit correctly.

I have a "rabbit" bottle and wine opener which had a broken worm... Thought I would have to replace the whole thing. Luckily I found this and I could not be happier. Super easy to install as well. Works like a charm

I was dragging my feet to go out and purchase one of these. It seemed as though Metrokane played a few games with their so called warranty... But that is another story. Anyways, after getting somewhat disgusted with them after my wine rabbit became pretty much unusable (very hard to open wines and very hard to get the cork off the rabbit) and discovering I would have to purchase one these replacement worms, I blew it all off and did nothing. That is until my wife stuck our wine rabbit on the desk in my office, where it remained for longer than I want to admit. Eventually I found my way to Amazon and after a little digging found this great priced replacement. I figured it was worth a shot if it brought our over priced rabbit back to life again.

Long story short, it works great and did the trick! Our rabbit is back in action and the wife is a bit more happy with me for finally taking care of it. I can't speak to the life further out, but for now I've had it about 2 months and am completely happy with it. It was very easy to swap the worm out and for the price it I should have done it much sooner. If you have a dead or tough to use rabbit, get this and get back to drinking your wine!

I've replaced the worm for my current corkscrew only one other time in over 4 years. The new one makes The Rabbit just like new.
