5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Appearance and Value
I saw these on the website and was wowed by their look and features...they were just what I had been looking for, an end table with a middle shelf and a drawer, made of wood, heavy and sturdy construction! Once we put them together, I got exactly that! Thanks to a friend who helped me put it assemble them, it's a 2 person job. The tables look great. Yes, I did notice...

2.0 out of 5 stars YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
I recently got the console and the end table. My husband put them together fast and they look great. But, the wood is already chipping off. This piece would be great if you are never going to use the table for any other reason except to look at it. I put my coaster on it and it left a circle mark on the table. Every thing that touches it seems to scratch it. YOU GET...

Once we put them together, I got exactly that! Thanks to a friend who helped me put it assemble them, it's a 2 person job. The tables look great. Yes, I did notice that the back covering by where the drawers are is of a diferent "finish" but after a few minutes, it didn't matter, and since that side of the table is towards a wall, nobody would notice it but me, hence, it's no big deal. Even the same effect is on the Coffee Table, but nobody has even noticed it, hence, again, it's no big deal. The overall construction (on the once I got) was excellent, everything matched, fit, and secured properly and the instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow. I just ordered a glass to cover the surface to ensure their longevity. I forsee having these (I got the entire set, a center table and two end tables to match) for quite a while. The drawers are great for tv guides, remote controls, and similar objects. Everyone who has come over is mega impressed at them and think that I paid a fortune for them. Well, I guess I've said enough. I recomend them for anyone who is looking for a functional end and center table that looks good and is heavy and sturdy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing, January 25, 2005

This table was an absolute disappointment. The veneers used on the top and lower shelf do not match in grain or in color. Perhaps I got a "bad" table, but I was shocked when I saw this item. The wood looks dry, cheap and old, and an expensive wood oil treatment did nothing to remedy the problem. The other tables I bought from Target were great, but I would NOT order this table.

I bought this product from the local target. The wood looks great. There were no missing parts, no scratches, no discoloration, etc. I did not need anyone to help; it was very easy to put together. I also bought the Cambridge armoire to match.

3.0 out of 5 stars Try Try Again, October 5, 2004

I bought the coffee table, console, and one end table to this set. The first two pieces were no problem at all. The end table was a different story. The first time I tried to buy it, it was out of stock and I got a rain check. When I finally bought it, the finish was different from the other two pieces (too red and light) so I exchanged it. The one I exchanged it for would not fit together (after three people tried). So I returned it and was still determined and ready to buy another. Surprise... out of stock. I love this set and it is gorgeous, but I would like to buy it and get it right the first and only time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile piece, September 28, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Metropolitan End Table (Kitchen)
I am not using this table as a nightstand or end table, but rather beside my computer credenza with hutch. This table holds my fax machine on top, and the printer down below. I really appreciate the storage drawer, holds paper, in my case. It is the perfect size for my needs -- my room is small.

I too wish it was more of a true expresso color, this table like other reviewers have mentioned, has some red tones to it.

I had a little difficulty with assembly. The pieces were not configured exactly like the instructions suggested. Where I needed to use a Left piece, it was really a Right piece that fit. It went together well, the drawer slides easily, the table is balanced evenly and does not wobble.

Outstanding value for the money!

By A Customer

Absolutely love this table but, it took me 2 months to get it. I am using them as side tables for our bedrooom set so I needed 2 but, they were a PIA to get! I went to every store and they never had them & they never had them online...finally I got 2 from the store but one was spiit & the other was missing screws!!! I returned them & got one whole one & one which I manged to share parts with the 1st one. Nevertheless, now I have 2 and love them...it was worth the inconvience!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Use a good screwdriver, September 7, 2004
By
This review is from: Metropolitan End Table (Kitchen)
I was initially frustrated in assembling this piece, but as soon as I switched to my "good" screwdriver, it was a cinch. I don't agree that the drawer was difficult to assemble as with other reviews. The only thing I would caution, is to make sure that the cam-head screws are turned all the way counter-clockwise before you assemble. If I had done that, it would have taken me only about 35 minutes to assemble.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive for the Price, August 25, 2004

I was surprised to see such a nice table for the price. I bought two for our living room--one drawer holds a bunch of candles and the other DVDs and CDs. The wood is pretty nice. I did not have scratches on any surfaces. If you are debating getting this table, don't. It is worth the money!
