4.0 out of 5 stars Good Mexican cookbook from a trusted Chinese publisher, April 6, 1999
By A Customer
Hey, I have this book! I bought this book about a year ago because I purchased 2 other cookbooks from this publisher, Wei-Chuan, and I really like the way the cookbooks are presented. My friends always laugh at me when I tell them about this book ... but this is a good - How to cook Mexican cuisine - from a Chinese publisher! The instructions are fairly good and the steps are simple ... like a lab experiment, but tastier! I've tried the delicious rice, and chicken enchiladas recipes and they're great. Of course, you can also improvise by taking spices from one recipe and using it with another recipe. Half of my problem is that I don't know what ingredients to use and this book really helps.

I encourage you to try this book and other books from the publisher Wei-Chuan.

We brought this book with us on our annual two-week trip to Mexico. We have tried Mexican cookbooks before, but so many of them had lengthy directions, obscure foods, and few photos. This one has what we consider to be the best of all worlds -- basic ingredients, easy instructions, photos of not only the finished product but of the ingredients, and a non-scary thickness of about 1/4 inch with plastic-encased cover. The book is in both Spanish and English, so if we could not find an ingredient, we could point to the word for that food. We saved loads of pesos by bringing this outstanding book with us and cooking for ourselves, and all of the recipes were delicious. Our travel-mates have now bought one as well. Look at this book before you look at any others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly good!, July 13, 2001
This is a handy cookbook. It's relatively short, but packed with good recipes and nice color pictures. In many cases, it has seperate recipes for the sauces, preparing the meats, and then putting it together. I thought it would be labor intensive, but instead I've found it inspiring me to try out new combinations.
