With so many Mexican cookbooks already on the market, how could yet another make its mark of distinction? Yet, Mexican Culinary Treasures: Recipes From Maria Elena's Kitchen does so with a flourish: Maria's extensive knowledge of her native country's foods lends to a survey of both traditional to newer, more cosmopolitan creations, form Mushroom Quesadillas to Stuffed Poblano Chiles in Walnut Sauce and Guajillo Chile Enchiladas.
