Gr 9 Up--While certainly not for pleasure reading, this title is an ideal resource for reports. It is a competently written, detailed account of the revolution from its inception in 1910 to the resolution of the conflict in the late 1930s. The straightforward, chronological treatment allows for a clear explanation of the issues and key players involved. Use of period black-and-white photographs and numerous primary sources give a sense of the times. Detailed chapter notes and an adequate index round out the excellent presentation. The only drawbacks are the small typeface and two-column format, which give the book a dense, unapproachable textbook look. Nonetheless, those needing an in-depth overview of this period in Mexican history will not be disappointed.
