For 1 to 8 players

Ages 6 to adult

Mexican Train is a very popular domino variation using a set of double 12 dominos. This is the licensed version. Play begins at the "train station", a plastic starter piece. Each player builds his own train. You can interrupt by playing a double domino, forcing players to build on it before adding to their own trains. Round ends when one player "goes out" Pips on dominoes still in your hand count against you.

This Mexican Train set includes color dot double 12 dominoes, centerpiece and rules, and comes packaged in a faux ostrich snap case. This is the authorized version with game rules copyrighted by Roy & Katie Parsons.

91 dominos are "tournament sized" at 1-3/32 x 2-3/16 x 1/2 inches thick. Set weighs over six pounds ! Eight little plastic engines are also enclosed. Includes rules for Straight Dominoes, Solitaire, 42, 84, Moon, Chickenfoot, and superdominoes as well as Mexican Train. Domino starter, a plastic centerpiece is also enclosed.

This dominoes set is an excellent weight. The dominoes are big and beefy and professional sized so they stand up in your "hand" better. The colors are a little bright, but we got used to that. The "hub" is very simple and this set makes a good partner with the Mexican Train Hub. Comes with 6 plastic train markers. A very good buy.

We got this game for our "games night" with neighbors and friends. We have not been disappointed. The tiles are well made, of good quality, and should last forever. The plastic "whistle blowing engine" is a cute gimmic but I can see that as being the first(and only) source of breakage or battery replacement. It is a fun game and I would purchase from this source again.

Great Product. Durable and dots large enough for aging eyes. Train works great. Nice compact case to keep everything together.

We looked for a set like this because we were introduced to the game by friends. They call it "Chicken Train" and their rules are not the same as the ones in the instructions, but who cares? It's a great game.

The dominoes in the game are 3/8" of an inch thick which facilitates their standing up easily. They are also rather heavy which is nice. I was rather surprised at the weight when I picked up the box after it was delivered.

The train engines used to mark are nice and they are easy to see. We were using pennies and these are definitely a better solution.

I have yet to find a reason for the choo choo key chain...

Delivery was quick.

I recommend this game and the vendor.

I first ran into a home-made version of this game, which I played with my parents and grandparents. Talk about transcending the age gap! Everybody had a great time. So much so that when I started looking for a Christmas present for a couple of friends of mine who love games, this was the first thing I thought of. Haven't given it to them yet, but I know they'll love it! Never met anyone who's played it who didn't!

First and foremost, I love the dominoes themselves, which are jumbo "tournament" sized and have pips (dots) of different colors (rather than Arabic numerals, which some prefer but not me).

Although many of the reviews I read here had me concerned because they said it came with only 6 train markers, I found that that was not true. It comes with 8 (little plastic) train markers.

The down-sides: first is that the (purple) 10 and the (blue) 8 dominoes look too similar and cause confusion -- or is it the purple 10 and the purple 8? Not sure anymore, but me and a younger friend (20 years old) were both going nuts due to confusing them all the time. We got some lime green nail polish and filled just one dot/pip of each of the purple number 10s with green to help us tell the difference! Other minor downsides: The little black choo-choo train works and is plenty loud, but sounds to me more like a chicken screeching than a train. The hub wheel from which the game plays off of is colorless and clear transparent plastic and also very thin and flat. I purchased the Puremco "centerpiece kit" which offers a nicer wheel hub, which may have a nicer train sound and has more train (and slightly different) train markers as well as some score sheets. The (choo-choo sounds on that centerpiece kit are awesome.)

I had ordered some wooden domino trays when I ordered this game, that had multiple grooves in them. Mistake: these dominoes are much too large for that type of tray (so I returned those and got the single-style wood trays that will fit any size from smaller to larger dominoes).

One other thing: the description here says the case is "a black, cowhide-grained, leatherette case with a snap lock closure.
