5.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Version of an Old Favourite
After my 10-year-old son spent the night at a sleepover his friend's mom told me that he actually passed on video games to spend hours playing a game with her, her husband, and thier teenager. Then she told me this amazing game that could entertain adults, teenagers, and 10 year olds for so long despite the call of video games was Mexican Train Dominoes! This version has...

3.0 out of 5 stars Same old story
Same complaints as many others have. Mexican train is a very fun game for all ages but this particular set earned these minor complaints:

1. The tin box is too large. The Dominoes swim around in this huge box. While it's cute they made it the shape of a train, I would rather a box that is easier to store and holds the dominoes securely...

This version has colorful locomotive peices and an electronic locomotive that makes sounds, which goes over big with the younger crowd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Battery Problem, August 23, 2006

First, we love this game and I will be giving several for Christmas presents this year.
Yes, there is a battery problem but it is simple to fix. Just take the 3 small, watch size batteries out of the turnstyle and rough up both sides of each battery - you can use a fine emery board to do this. Replace the batteries and it works like a charm. This is so much faster and less frustrating than attempting to return the product.

Same complaints as many others have. Mexican train is a very fun game for all ages but this particular set earned these minor complaints:

1. The tin box is too large. The Dominoes swim around in this huge box. While it's cute they made it the shape of a train, I would rather a box that is easier to store and holds the dominoes securely.

2. The battery operated train whistle went dead after exactly 3 whistles. That is okay since it was very loud, long, and annoying. I've read the batteries are at least $5 to replace so once you add that into the price, the set is no longer any deal.

3. The dominoes themselves seemed a little cheap and I didn't like the colors used. I've seen worse and cheaper dominoes but these were disappointing. I'm going to keep on shopping and sell these on Ebay when I replace them.

One of the household favorites, this game is enjoyed by three generations of family. Even the friends of our "cool teenagers" want to play when they come over to our house. We modify the rules a bit to suit the age and interest of the players. We even play an adult version when the kids are gone.

This is a GREAT "all ages" game. When grandpa & grandma come to visit, we ALL play! Even my 7 year old can play. He isn't fast enough to count a double 12 domino, but he matched the colors! They almost look forward to not being able to play so they can place the train & make the station hoot & whistle!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mexican Train Dominoes, November 5, 2006

This review is from: Mexican Train Game Tin Edition (Toy)
We thought the dominoes dots were too small in this game ... they weren't the quality we were hoping for. The holder for the domino was perfect tho, the train sound is fun. We were really happy it had enough trains in it for 7 people to play .. most games only give u 4 trains. They just need to put a better qualityof dominos in this game and it'd be perfect.

I gave this game to my neighbor's little boy because he's crazy about trains and playing games. It was the perfect gift. ***ONE DRAWBACK*** As a mother of three myself I noticed that when you press that button and the train goes Whoo-Whoo, the chugga chugga train noise goes on FOREVER. Since this button is pressed multiple times during the game it can drive you nuts! I felt bad for my neighbors when they tried it at the party. He was obviously thrilled. The game itself is great and uses excellent quality heavy tile dominoes. Get it if you don't mind your house sounding like a train station!

Our family has played the game owned by others and our family enjoyed it. The fun part was the Choo-Choo noise hub. The first one delivered didn't work and neither did the replacement. Still waiting for the 3rd replacment or a refund.
One can order the hub and dominoes separately instead of this set I ordered which might be an option worth considering.

We have always played chicken foot dominos and when we saw this we bought it and really like it better than regular and chicken foot dominos. We have played with friends and neighbors and our HOA is having a Mexican Train competition this Sat.
