Analon Much Preferred Over ..., June 28, 2002
This review is from: Meyer Anolon Professional Skillet 8"
Finally!! After waiting for so many years I decided to invest in some 'Good' cookware. Of course, not knowing "what" from "whatever", I decided to take the plunge and try a few different high-end cookware brands before suffering a huge out of pocket expense for an single set.
Anyways ... I wanted to have some decent cookware to work with ... Afterall, it didn't seem right that I my husband would suprise me with a beautiful new ceramic top range for Christmas ... and have my cook in old dinged up cookware ... So of course, I did what any woman would do ... I went shopping :)
I first purchased Farberware. For my second purchase, I chose this Analon pan & another Analon round griddle. My third purchase was a Calphalon Professional everyday pan which was an amazing deal & I just could not pass up.
Stated simply & quickly? My Analon out worked and out sparkled them all! This pan is the absolute BEST ... it makes cooking a dream and clean up a breeze. It can take the most ordinary meal a complete delight to prepare and experience. If you purchase this pan, you will probably end up wanting to purchasing a second in the same or a larger size.
Second to Analon is my Calphalon -- Although It comes very close (in my opinion) to Analon, I'd have to say that the third time I browned in it (and not at any extreme high temp) ... it held slight discoloration which was difficult to clean. I panicked at first, but found that although it does clean up well, not always as easily.
On the other hand I was disapointed by Farberware ... My fry pans were sadly scratched exhibiting wear & tear within the first month of owning them! When purchasing this brand, read the warranty carefully. If it says that it can't take oven heat over a certain degrees ... it means you probably cannot cook range top in those high degrees either ... ((which doesn't make much sense to me when you are talking about fry pans, sauteuse or the like)) ... However, I would say that the Farberware sauce pans are just fine and have held up ok.

AS GOOD AS CALPH......?, February 13, 2002
This review is from: Meyer Anolon Professional Skillet 8"
YES IT IS AND AT A GREAT PRICE TOO! THE 8" SIZE IS GOOD FOR SAUTEING AND FRYING SMALL AMOUNTS -ONE TO TWO CHICKEN BREASTS- AND FOR 2 EGG OMELETS (3 EGG OMELETS NEED A BIGGER PAN). I'VE FOUND THAT A LITTLE OIL OR BUTTER HELPS BROWN THE FOOD AND THE HIGH QUALITY NON-STICK COATING LETS IT SLIP OUT EASILY. ITS HARD ANODIZED ALUMINUM EXTERIOR HEATS EVENLY WITH NO HOT SPOTS. THE HANDLE DOES NOT GET HOT AFTER 10-12 MINUTES AND EVEN HAS A HOLE FOR HANGING. THE MANUFACTURER GIVES A LIFETIME WARRANTY AND THIS SKILLET SHOULD LAST IF YOU USE NON-METAL UTENSILS AND CLEAN WITH A MILD DETERGENT AND SPONGE OR NYLON SCRUBBER. I'LL BE STORING MINE WITH MY CALPH...

Most used in the house!, January 4, 2003
This review is from: Meyer Anolon Professional Skillet 8"
This is a great pan. I got one Christmas 2001, and bought one for my son, daughter, folks, and Aunt Christmas 2002. It is just perfect for breakfast eggs, bacon, etc, plus cooking any small/medium portion of anything. This is the 5th Anolon Professional I have ...they are flat out the best pans I have found. I cook a LOT, and have tried a lot of pans, these are terrific, and reasonably priced. ...Amazing.
They also look very good hanging, the handles are beautiful, and never get hot. Two thumbs up!!!!
