Good piece of equipment BUT..., November 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Meyer Circulon Double Burner Griddle
This is a sturdy, well made griddle, BUT it may not fit the stove you intend to use it on. I have tried mine on two stoves now; a standard issue electric range and a Viking gas cooktop. It didn't fit either cooking surface. On the electric range the handle on the rear of the griddle hit the stove's back control panel and prevented the pan from being centered over the burners, so the handle was exposed to the heat of the burner and burnt. On the gas cooktop, it is just plain too short to go between the two burners, so both handles get "cooked". It must fit some stoves perfectly. If it fits yours, it is a good piece of cookware. If it doesn't, it's most annoying.

Good but far from perfect, March 22, 2001
This review is from: Meyer Circulon Double Burner Griddle
My griddle doesn't fit my stove (Jenn-Air) because of the handle pushing against the back panel. It will probably work better with a drop-in stove, but my griddle is about an inch off center of the burners which doesn't affect cooking but makes one handle hot. Also grooved surface makes cleaning harder and in my experience (I own 3 circulon pans) it doesn't last any longer than regular non-stick surface. I have a Calphalon non-stick pan that was burned numerous times and abused for 5 years now and it is still in a very good condition, but a Circulon pan was ruined after being overheated only once. Of course, they offer a very good deal here and it's worth considering.

FLAT BOTTOM IS WHAT GLASS TOP STOVES NEED
What most other griddles lack including some very expensive ones is a flat bottom. If you have a glass top stove, a flat bottom is essential and this product has it. Now the test of time is whether or not this product warps. I will re-review it if it does but other cheaper griddles usually warp on the first use. This one did not.
HANDLES DO NOT INTERFER
When I got this griddle I was concerned that the handles would hit either the back of the stove or the edge lip. Having a glass top stove this can be a concern. It is well in-board of the edges so is not restricted in any way.
PLASTIC COVERED HANDLES ARE A NICE ADDITION
Many of the cheaper products have metal handles, you can really get singed on these easily. This one is nice that the plastic handles protect you from the heat.
POUR SPOUT IS A NICE TOUCH
Pouring grease or sauce from a griddle is an art form. This griddle enables the rank amateur to pour like a pro.
COOKING IS EVEN AND NON-STICK
I've cranked up the heat on this griddle and it maintained an even heat. Also nothing stuck like cheese, sugar or meat. This is also true of the bottom surface when spilling happened. With this in mind, I hope this to be the last griddle I ever buy. I have 5 previous ones that didn't make the grade.
