Good piece of equipment BUT...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Meyer Circulon Double Burner Griddle
This is a sturdy, well made griddle, BUT it may not fit the stove you intend to use it on. I have tried mine on two stoves now; a standard issue electric range and a Viking gas cooktop. It didn't fit either cooking surface. On the electric range the handle on the rear of the griddle hit the stove's back control panel and prevented the pan from being centered over the burners, so the handle was exposed to the heat of the burner and burnt. On the gas cooktop, it is just plain too short to go between the two burners, so both handles get "cooked". It must fit some stoves perfectly. If it fits yours, it is a good piece of cookware. If it doesn't, it's most annoying.

Good but far from perfect,

My griddle doesn't fit my stove (Jenn-Air) because of the handle pushing against the back panel. It will probably work better with a drop-in stove, but my griddle is about an inch off center of the burners which doesn't affect cooking but makes one handle hot. Also grooved surface makes cleaning harder and in my experience (I own 3 circulon pans) it doesn't last any longer than regular non-stick surface. I have a Calphalon non-stick pan that was burned numerous times and abused for 5 years now and it is still in a very good condition, but a Circulon pan was ruined after being overheated only once. Of course, they offer a very good deal here and it's worth considering.

FLAT BOTTOM IS WHAT GLASS TOP STOVES NEEDWhat most other griddles lack including some very expensive ones is a flat bottom. If you have a glass top stove, a flat bottom is essential and this product has it. Now the test of time is whether or not this product warps. I will re-review it if it does but other cheaper griddles usually warp on the first use. This one did not. HANDLES DO NOT INTERFER PLASTIC COVERED HANDLES ARE A NICE ADDITION POUR SPOUT IS A NICE TOUCH COOKING IS EVEN AND NON-STICK

This is a very sturdy griddle that won't warp after use. It's nonstick feature is very convenient. The Circulon feature of grooves in the nonstick surface alleviates lifetime wear on the nonstick coating. This is a great buy. Circulon makes great products.

Although at first I was thrilled with this griddle. It has now been 6 months since I recieved it and I am beginning to have difficulty with the ridged non-stick surface. Cooking eggs at first was a breeze, now the stick quite often, even though I have followed all care instructions to the letter since recieving it. Overall great still for meats and other misc. It will cook 8 slices of toast at once too lol!

I just wish this griddle was a little wider. works great on my glass top electric stove and the corner lip is great for pouring off grease. if you haven't tried circulon before you'll love the way everything from burgers to pancakes cook on it,.

This griddle is more than just good for stove top use. It goes from stove top to oven and make one of the best cookie sheeps you can get. Heavy and functional. LOVE IT!

I Love This Griddle,

I've had one of these griddles for more than five years. It gets heavy use weekly, mainly for pancakes and grilled sandwiches. The secret to this non-stick surface is pre-heating. For instance, if you pour pancake batter onto the griddle, and then heat it up, the batter will stick in the grooves. If, however, the surface is up to cooking temperature (about medium on most stoves), the surface is like magic. We take this griddle with us when we travel, and even use it on the Coleman double-burner camp stove. On more than one occasion, while using the Coleman stove, I accidentally let the griddle get too hot. I realized it was too hot when the pancake batter started bubbling immediately. It was so hot I melted the spatula getting the pakcakes off! This rough treatment didn't faze the surface, though. Cleanup has always been easy. For pancakes, I just wipe it off with a paper towel and hang it back on the hook for next time. After cooking greasy foods, a little dish soap, a wash towel, and water is all that's ever been required. Take (reasonable) care of this griddle, and it will take care of you.

This is awesome, as is ANY Circulon product. Just remember that although the description says "24.75 inches x 11.75 inches x 2.0 inches" it's really 10" X 18" - I thought I got the wrong one, but the back of the packaging has the same product number. Ho-hum.Suggestions for Circulon products: never use HIGH HEAT for more than a minute or so - always max yourself at medium high. Never use in an oven over 450. Sure, you can do it - and I have with the same first set of Circulon pots and pans for 14 years, but they'll wear a little more quickly and while the non-stick will still be in great shape, it won't be as slippery. Trust me, their products are great, I've used them for 14 years - the same first set - and I cook nearly every night. Try the pots with the built-in locking colanders - it's my new favorite thing in the world. Oh, and go ahead and use them in your dishwasher as long as your dishwasher uses condensation drying and not a heating element - like a Bosch dishwasher, simply the best.

Happy with Purchase,

This is the first Circulon cookware I've tried. I was afraid the food would get stuck in the grooves but so far it's been great. I've only cooked pancakes, eggs and grilled ham & cheese on it - all with great results. The directions said not to use cooking spray so I hesitantly threw on the eggs expecting them to stick - but they didn't. Cleanup was very easy - the little remaining food came right off when I ran it under hot water. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it's a little smaller than I would like - an inch or two wider and an inch longer would be perfect. The griddle arrived a little beat up - two pieces broke off of the plastic that covers one of the handles (the handles are metal with a cool-touch plastic covering). It was packed with air bags instead of popcorn which would have kept it from sliding around in the box. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I just have to keep my wife away from it with a metal spatula! |
