Delirious? is showing signs of true greatness...all of their albums are so different...yet they are all so great that it becomes harder to pick a favorite with each new release.

Delirious started as a worship band, and a great new and fresh one at that. Their songs captured the heart of the worshipper and let you own them and offer them up. I fear they are becoming too commercial with this release. The trend actually started on the previous album, King of Fools. The songs seem to be more focused on performance than the Cutting Edge...

4.0 out of 5 stars real artistry, June 23, 2001

Delirious? is showing signs of true greatness...all of their albums are so different...yet they are all so great that it becomes harder to pick a favorite with each new release.

I really like the whole effect of "Mezzamorphis." It has great songs--some of which could be great singles (like those on their earlier album "King of Fools"). At the same time it forms a rather unified whole (but is not as integrated as their later album "Glo").

Some highlights of the disc for me are the tracks: "Mezzanine Floor"; "I will follow"; "Blindfold"; and "Jesus Blood." I do not care as much for the remix of "Deeper" as I do for the original (on "King of Fools").

I have a big problem with music that labels itself as "Christian." The categorization, besides being a bit presumptuous, separates true Christian artists off into a little ghetto where they are limited to preaching to a choir of the already convinced when they should be taking the message out into the larger world. Delirious? has fought nobly to take their message beyond this ghetto...unfortunately, they are still suffering from the "Christian Music" label on this side of the Atlantic (they've had greater success in their homeland)...Yet Delirious? is not like the typical drivel that all too often gets cast into the "Christian Music" bin...there is real artistry here.

I recommend this disc highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new direction, same journey, December 4, 1999

When Delirious moved off from the back of Cutting Edge 4, they knew they where on a journey with God and thier instruments into the unknown (for the d:guys anyway). King of Fools was the album that all who hear love, live it's out of this world. People have moaned at Mezzamorphis for not being as worship focused as previous material. So? Sure you can't lift losts of the songs and take them into a church service, but that's not the point. If the singles off the album had the air play, and publicity they deserve, intead of being shunned because Delirious are unashamedly Christians, the album would be huge. Buy, listen again and again (it's worth it), then see them live and you'll know the reason why the guys put out Mezzamorphis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mezza, December 8, 1999
This review is from: Mezzamorphis (Audio CD)
A lot of people are bothered by some of the lyrics to 'It's Ok' but read the liner notes, the guys explain it. I love everything d: does, and think that Mezza rocks, lyricly, musicly... everything. I also love this cos it show that praise doesn't have to be a bunch of middle-aged women sharing there faith stories and singing 'Lord I Lift Your Name On High'. Delirious is an awesome bunch of guys with a desire to serve God wholeheartedly. I highly recommend this album and their previous releases- King Of Fools and Cutting Edge. Yeah, their sond has sort of changed, but they're still the same guys singing and playing for God.

4.0 out of 5 stars How can a band continue to get better!, November 17, 1999
This review is from: Mezzamorphis (Audio CD)
This CD has a great new sound and I never seem to get tired of the song, "Deeper." This CD does go deeper with thoughts of focusing even more on the Lord (Beautiful Sun)and not forgetting who he is (Metamorphis). They rock with a purpose!

4.0 out of 5 stars Deliriously Brilliant, July 10, 2004
This review is from: Mezzamorphis (Audio CD)
What a stunner this album is. This one seemed to really put the cat among the pigeons regards fan reaction. Some consider it a little industrial, a little too hard-edged in terms of musical content. For me, it's trademark Delirious; daring, bold, passionate and unrelenting. This was Delirious coming off their "could we be pop stars?" trip, and many tracks here are deliberately single-length and as radio-sounding as possible. I consider this to hold Delirious back from their truly magical moments, found on more obviously worshipful recordings. Still, the album is consistent and coherant and flows well.

Stand-out tracks for me are the 'Mezzanine Floor', 'Bliss' (despite the tacky chorus and the somewhat dubious logic of having "really lived" even if they're completely wrong about their faith), and 'It's OK', which was released as a UK mainstream single and did relatively well considering a complete wall of radio silence. 'Gravity' tries a little too hard and the remix of the classic 'Deeper' takes away from how great it first sounded on 'King of Fools', but this album is a keeper and well worthy of my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars They are the worshippers with passion for the Lord!, January 24, 2000

Delirious is awesome and I LOVE this CD. These songs aren't just good songs that sounds cool to our ears. I believe that all these songs represent their cry and yearning for the Lord. Their music is so raw...I don't know how else to say it...it's so raw and passionate. If you are looking for the songs that can bring you into the heart of worship, this it it! Also, I strongly recommend you to get all other delirious album because I really don't want you to miss out. I've been to their concert twice and they were awesome, not just because their music sounded good, but because God was there! I believe that God is using Delirious to bring His kingdom in this generation.

4.0 out of 5 stars better than King Of Fools..., January 3, 2000
By A Customer

Deeper 99 is playing as I'm typing this review. Anyways, I got this one free, and overall, I'm impressed with it. They continue on the same musical path they started with King Of Fools. Only this time, the tunes are much more catchy (well, I THINK they are). Morever, the Christianity is forceful rather than force-fed (to paraphrase Q Magazine). Best tracks for the moment: The Mezzanine Floor, Heaven, Follow, and Deeper 99. I got it today so I'll definitely be listening to it more. By the way, get their first one Cutting Edge if you can (available at your nearest Christian bookstore). That double-CD is very praise-music oriented, and I consider that to be their best one yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Artistic, Thoughtful, February 21, 2006

Christian music is usually either artistically or theologically shallow; this album is neither. Thoughtful and deep lyrics on top of layers of artful and musical rock make this one of the best Christian CD's I've ever heard. Have had it 4 years, and still think it rates in the top 5 Christian albums ever.

(my other 4 are Smalltown Poets "Listen Closely", The Waiting "Blue Belly Sky", Rich Mullins "Liturgy, Legacy", and Mark Heard "High Noon", with a close 6th to Bruce Cockburn "Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws")

5.0 out of 5 stars Twenty-first Century Church Music, March 11, 2001

I read a review of this CD (on another website) which said it was disappointing because it contained songs that "you couldn't sing in church". I say "Why not?" Maybe church music should change. There is only one Delirious, and Mezzamorphis (this title must have started out as a joke) is another classic. There are discernible themes and threads that run through the album (heaven and earth, the beauty of Jesus) that make it a complete, continuous work of art, not just a collection of songs. Highlights include: "Heaven" (I received this CD from the UK on the day of the Columbine shootings; this song is prophetic)."Bliss" (Christian rock power at its best; still the most-requested "worship" song by kids at my church)"Metamorphis"(Quote from a sixties person: "That intro is so 'White Album!'")"Beautiful Sun" (So much for songs you can't sing in church--but you will never find another song with the chord progressions that this one has!)"Love Falls Down"(Another great supposedly non-church song with some cool Byrds-like guitar settings and a funky rhythm in the middle)"Kiss Your Feet" (You will not find a more passionate worship song, anywhere, delivered as only Martin Smith can).Go buy this CD and play it REAL LOUD IN CHURCH!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Variety, December 14, 2000
This review is from: Mezzamorphis (Audio CD)
I've been a Deliriou5? fan for a long time and i've come across about all of their music. And I can just come up with one word for this band. VARIETY. This band isn't just any joe shmoe band that comes up with just the same music all the time in their albums. IT'S ALL DIFFERENT. That's what I absolutly love about this album. IN FACT one of my favorite d: songs is actually on this album and the song is titled "Blindfold". This song basically talks about our confusion in life and in our walk with God. But at anyrate, If you are one into variety in bands and you want something different everytime, THIS is the band to go with. This album has both depth and pure worship in it and I would HIGHLY recommend this album to anyone that would want to get into Deliriou5? for the first time..
