4.0 out of 5 stars The Real M-Fin' Zebrahead
Zebrahead has always been a band that has had a unique kind of blend between punk rock and rock/metal, yet they've always seemed to slip by the mainstream and only get an established cult fan following (which they named this album after). so waste of mind came out, and i loved every minute of it. playmate of the year came out, and i loved it just the same. what i really loved about both of these albums is their unique sound, the punk rock with funk feel. i listen to their old stuff, and i say to myself, "hey, i can't think of a single other band that sounds like this, and what an amazing sound this is"...

4.0 out of 5 stars The Real M-Fin' Zebrahead, October 27, 2003

Zebrahead has always been a band that has had a unique kind of blend between punk rock and rock/metal, yet they've always seemed to slip by the mainstream and only get an established cult fan following (which they named this album after). It's not that Zebrahead is a bad band; they can write the catchiest sing-along speedster tunes that any band can crank out, and who doesn't love that? But, after their fairly successful debut (that spawned the hit singles, "Get Back" & "The Real Me"), Zebrahead followed with an overlooked second album that gave them a novelty hit, "Playmate Of The Year." But, three years later, along comes "MFZB."

It's a powerful album that gives off the impression that Zebrahead is a band with a lot to say. Most of the songs talk of protest against authority, the difficulties of growing up and politics (and sometimes, the occasional break-up). All the songs come off a fast-paced, energized and (for the lack of a better word) catchier than f*uckin' hell! If there is one art ZH has mastered, it's the art of writing a good sing-along rock tune.

There are some mild differences from their previous works (but, weren't you already expecting that?), but it's mainly the fact that the band has taken a little of the funk out of their system and added a dose of heavy metal. The punk is still in there, and definitely adds a flair to the album. But, what comes off as a bigger surprise is that these guys have a whole lotta heart, as in the ballad, "Dear You (Far Away)," which has an acoustic guitar in it (is this the first time they've done that?!). There's also the not-quite-a-ballad, but not-quite-a-rocker "Expectations," which is a supreme mixture of the raps and the singing from Ali and Justin.

Even trying to fit in with the times, the band rampages through some two and a half minute songs that show off Ali's metal skills, with him screaming and practically busting his throat up ("Alone" & "Type A"). But melody is Zebrahead's strong point. The catchy zip-zap power of "Rescue Me," "Blur," and "Falling Apart," display their wall of sound, while "Hello Tomorrow," and "House Is Not My Home" show off their mellower, yet uplifting style.

Underrated, underappreciated and overlooked, Zebrahead is a band with immense power, range and melody and should be recognized for their great songs that really say more than what you might think. Like rock that'll pump you up, make you sing and chill you out? Well, then...look no further. Zebrahead's your fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album+Of+The+Year, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Mfzb (Audio CD)
I can't believe that anyone would honestly NOT like this album. It's one of the greatest of all time, IMO, and if you can't feel something when you're listening to it, you're either dead or deaf. The guys do a chorus like no one else, and they're so explosive that sometimes you'll wonder if music that catchy is possible. I don't think anyone else who does pop-punk can even come close to Zebrahead, and if they keep making albums this good, no one will ever be able to. Here a rundown of each track:

Rescue me 5/5
Over the edge 5/5
Strength 4/5
Hello tomorrow 5/5
The Set-up 4/5
Blur 4/5
House is not my home 4/5
Into you 5/5
Alone 5/5
Expectations 4/5
Falling apart 5/5
Let it ride 5/5
Type A 3/5
Runaway 4/5
Dear you (far away) 5/5
Hidden Cut #1 5/5

One of the most awesome pop-punk albums ever recorded, hands down. You can throw it on anytime, and you'll feel at home with their music. My only complaint is "Type A". that song just didn't live up to the others. But on an album with 16 cuts, thats nothing. HIGHLY ADVISED FOR PURCHASE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, March 12, 2006
This review is from: Mfzb (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD two years ago, and I still listen to it religiously. Zebrahead has an extremely unique style that is refreshingly unclassified. MFZB is amazing from start to finish, and it would be well worth your time to check out their creative yet emotional style of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars MFZB!, November 8, 2004
This review is from: Mfzb (Audio CD)
:) I love this record. Zebrhead has done it again. Another album you can listen all the way through without worrying about a crappy song. Each song on MFZB is better than the last in the most "Unique" music I've heard in a long time. Zebrahead definately pulled out all the stops with their highly original sound and lyrical writing. This album was definately a growing up of sorts for ZH. Not to be cliche or anything of course. I love this new record and I recommend it to every person ever. Cause no matter who you are, you're going to love this record. I play it at work all the time and it seems to be the only time we can all agree that THIS ALBUM ROCKS! I can tell you the breakdowns on each song, but I'd rather just say; "Every Song is the best song ever!" Buy 10 copies of this album for everyone you know.

4.0 out of 5 stars well worth the money, January 22, 2004
This review is from: Mfzb (Audio CD)
i really dont know what mfzb stands for, and it really doesn't matter with this cd. Every medi-ocre song on this cd is filled with a wicked rumbling song after that rocks the spot until the end. Type A, is without doubt the sweetest and fastest paced song they have done so far. if only the whole album had been at this mood and tempo there would be no need for a followup because it would be the greatest cd released in 2003. this cd however, really isnt far behind it. i enjoyed it when i listened to it the first time, and now every time i listen to it sounds so much better and makes a lot more sense. id give this cd a 8/10, because this is truly a punk/rap/rock cd at its greatest!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!, November 21, 2003

The Zebrahead album MFZB is Awesome!!!! I like it just as much if not more than all the other Zebrahead albums. And I too have listened to them since the "Waste of Mind" album. Some people say they have lost their originality, but I think those people are just trying to be "hard core" punk fans who are always looking for something to complain about, or I knew the band when.... kind of things. Anyway the new cd is packed with fast motivating tracks that are just as good if not better than their preceding albums.

you're obviously an idiot and don't know what good music is. if you are a true zebrahead fan then you know that before Waste of Mind they had The Yellow Album which is one of the greatest cds ever created. this is a movement back towards their original sound. its fantastic! this album is the best album i've heard by anyone in years. don't listen to chuck, its like nothing you've ever heard before.

When describing the new ZH album a few words come to mind. Diverse and Awesome probably my 2 favorite. Unlike most bands nowadays, this album hits you with something different every time, not clone songs. They've matured a bit while still keeping that feel good vibe that they have always had. A definate must have for ZH fans. "Surrender" is one of the best covers i've ever heard and anyone who doesnt grab the Japanese version is missing out on 3 great trax. If you are a Zebrahead lover or just appreciate good music this album is a must have

2.0 out of 5 stars A Little Dissapointed, May 6, 2005
This review is from: Mfzb (Audio CD)
I have to dissagree with some of the previous ratings. I was a much bigger fan of their earlier released stuff, they went to a much more "pop-punk" sound. If that's your style, definately pick up the album, but if you were into the uniqueness of previous material you may be let down. To each their own, surely give it a listen, but you may want to check out some tracks or clips before buying. I got it for 3 dollars so really I can't complain but I figured I'd throw out my input.

3.0 out of 5 stars good, for generic pop, August 17, 2004

so waste of mind came out, and i loved every minute of it. playmate of the year came out, and i loved it just the same. what i really loved about both of these albums is their unique sound, the punk rock with funk feel. i listen to their old stuff, and i say to myself, "hey, i can't think of a single other band that sounds like this, and what an amazing sound this is"

then, this came out, and i am dissappointed. i listen to this and i think, "hey, that part sounds like a linkin' park song", or, " this bit is from blink 182, isn't it?" they have lost their unique sound and become generic pop. it's good generic pop, i still like it, but it makes me sad that they went from what they were to that.

in conclusion, if you're looking for the sound on waste of mind or playmate of the year, don't look here. but if you're looking for good generic pop, it's for you. the only reason i gave it 3 stars is that it's good generic pop, as opposed to the usual generic crap that seems to be all around these days
