5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Journey, April 9, 2001
This review is from: Mg 4 (Audio CD)
If you're in love with Incognito, Satoshi Tomiie or Towa Tei, this CD is for you. MG4 is an elegant and vibring melt of several kind of music such as Acid-Jazz, Soul, 2-Step, Funky brazilian house and bossa with an "All Star Cast". Favorite tracks include: "Show Me Your Love", a wonderful Soul track featuring the exceptional N'Dea Davenport; the progressive "Star Suite"(great lyrics); and the powerful brazilian party gem "Life" (featuring Paula Lima). A Sensational album.

4.0 out of 5 stars You must own this gem...., January 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mg 4 (Audio CD)
What can I say about this gem? It is a change from Mondo Grosso's previous efforts but this makes it all the more worthwhile to have. Imagine putting a compilation together with N'Dea Davenport, Tania Maria, Amel Larrieux and Monday Michiru. Well here it is in the flesh and you had better get it.

I would have paid the price just for Amel Larrieux's, Now you know better, which simmers, then cooks and then absolutely boils over. If ever a tune could move you from one level to another then that is it. Tania Maria is at her eccentric best and gets you grooving in that Brazillian way that only she can. Life which is a lovely groovy latin track which also cooks is another reason for getting hold of this gem.

It's a pity the 30 second listening doesn't give you a real appreciation of what the tracks on the album are all about. All I can say is take my word for it and you won't be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mondo Grosso: A definite Buy, March 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Mg 4 (Audio CD)
I originally bought this CD from a recommendation from a DJ at a local Atlanta radio station. After hearing. "Now You Know Better" featuring Amel Larrieux I was hooked.

This CD offeres some of the most ecclectic sounds around. mondo Grosso is a group with lots of experience and it shows on this work. Songs to pay particular attention to include the uptempo "Butterfly" and "Life" featuring Paula Lima. They are what I call "happy songs" and offer a really beautiful relief to some of the sounds out know. Also, the "Star Suite" sequences remind me of being a child and coming into my own as a young adult.
