3.0 out of 5 stars Okay...Naked should be better
I've listened to this album several times....I'm a fan so I was kind of disappointed in the first two tracks. You want to be seen as a man MH, don't sing izzle like this.....ever...EVER again. The best songs on the CD are when he slows it down and goes mid-tempo...That Girl is catchy and honest. Because of you has an old MJ feel back when MJ was real. The remixes....one...

Though it was getting extremely frustrating each time MH's album was pushed back, it was definitely worth the wait. This is one of the best cd's I have ever bought. There is not one track on the cd that I skip because the whole album in incredible. This cd can be enjoyed by every Immature/IMx fan, along with anyone who is looking for a good R&B cd to listen to. The slow jams, "Walk Away," "Love's A Game, and "Alone" are absolutely beautiful. Marques sings on these tracks with such an amazing voice. There are also some HOT up-tempo songs on here, which are "Pop That Booty," "Tempted," and "Acting Up." There are a lot of mid-tempo songs on this album. Some of my favorite include "Because of You," (definitely has a feel-good vibe to it) "I Can Be The One" and "Cancel," which are just great songs. Plus, there are the hit singles, "Clubbin" and "That Girl" along with the remixes. Honestly, it's hard to tell which songs I like best, the originals or the remixes.
If I could, I would give this album 10 stars. Marq's voice has matured beautifully and this album shows more of his personal style of music. He is so talented and it definitely shows on this album. Like I said before, this is an amazing album, especially for it to be his first solo work. At the young age of 22, Marques Houston in definitely one the best R&B artist out there. I recommend this album to anyone and everyone who likes good music. MH did his thing on this one and I'm sure he will continue to make great music throughout his career. If you've never been a fan of MH, get this album and I'm sure you will fall in love with him. And if you don't get it, you are missing out on some really good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars New MH fan!!!!, October 27, 2003
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
Well I will admit, I was not a loyal fan of Immature/IMX. I liked a few songs here and there, but that was the extent. However, b/c I have a teenage sister, I just happened to hear MH's cd b/c of her. I have to tell everyone who's in their mid-late 20's and older, this cd is a MUST HAVE in your collection. I no longer see Marques as this little kid, he has definately matured into a wonderful and oh so talented young man. The songs on this cd are great. I first took notice w/ "Clubbin'", when I saw him perform in concert. But after listening to the cd, all of the songs are pretty tight. There's a song for everyone on it, which is cool b/c u don't find yourself skipping over songs much, if at all. The slow ballads are beautiful, and I was just in awe of how versitile MH's vocals are. The boy definately has some range! My fav's are "Clubbin'" of course, "Love's A Game" --beautiful love song that everyone who has ever loved someone, and let them get away, can relate to. I know I can. "Alone" is another fav, the beat w/ his voice is as hypnotic as the drink! LOL So needless to say, my sis has a copy of MH, and I have one as well. I had the pleasure of meeting MH at a cd signing, and he's a sweet guy, who's just trying to do his thing, in a positive light. So I definately just want to spread the word to those of u who may have been reluctant to purchase the cd initially, and just assure u that it's the best cd u could buy this year, next to my baby Ginuwine of course! So go out, cop the MH cd, support a young guy who's coming into his own, and doing things HIS way! Much luv MH!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album, October 21, 2003

When I heard that Marques Houston was going Solo I knew it was going to be a great album. I have been listening to him ever since Immature's On Our Worst Behavior. I have been waitng for the CD since the end of last year. And I was starting to get a little annoyed because they kept pushing the album date back. But it was worth the wait. I like every song on the album except #3 Pop That Booty. Normally I like artists more like D'Angelo or Rapheal Saadiq but Marques has turned it up a notch. This is his best work yet. He is writing all his own songs now and he produced his own album. That proves to me that he is more talented than I ever thought he was. This album is not like the B2K albums which I think suck. The only song that is like that is Pop That Booty. He did his own thing and showed his skills that I always knew he had.

5.0 out of 5 stars MH...One of the bests, October 23, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
MH is one of the best R&B Cds I've bought in over a year... It really displays Marq's solo talent and I think he did a great job..Some of the songs are, Intro (it's just a phone call from Rome and LDB), Clubbin (a nice fast dance track) Pop That Booty (classic IM sound) That Girl ( a slower paced song but not that slow, one of my favs) Because of you (sweet shows Marq's sensitive side) Walk Away (GREAT SLOW JAM) I Can Be The One(not one of the best songs on the album but its not bad) Grass is Greener ( Awesome song nice beat) Cancel (Amazing song) Good Luck (sounds kinda like Because of you) Can I call you (Gives ya the Immature feel) Loves a Game (great song to slow dance to really shows his vocal talent) Temted (Club Jam) Actin' Up (Umm Unique) That Girl Remix (Self explanatory) Clubbin Remix (self explanatory)

Overall its a great CD I suggest it to every Marq fan(includes Immature/Imx fans) I also suggest it to R&B fans

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay...Naked should be better, April 16, 2005
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
I've listened to this album several times....I'm a fan so I was kind of disappointed in the first two tracks. You want to be seen as a man MH, don't sing izzle like this.....ever...EVER again. The best songs on the CD are when he slows it down and goes mid-tempo...That Girl is catchy and honest. Because of you has an old MJ feel back when MJ was real. The remixes....one word------WHY?

I've heard three songs from Naked so far, and it definately shows maturity in the two years since this release. Far better than a lot of the garbage on the radio now...Stay away from the remixes with groups and artists like R. Kelly and G-unit and you'll do just fine. Not all of us ladies like or want a thug. Some of us just want to be held and be talked to like people. You're music will do much better when it reflects that side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leading the Pack as the Future of R&B, April 11, 2005
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
As time draws near to the May 24th release of "Naked", I wanted to review the debut solo album of Marques Houston. Nay, not a review, but reminisce on one of the best albums of 2003. I have long enjoyed the urban crossover music of IMX and the whole TUG family, but this album sent me over the top as becoming a fan. This album solidified a spot in my mind that MH desrves a spot a top the R&B elite, with the likes of Usher, Justin, B. McKnight and R. Kelly. You could see the strength as an artist coming through on the last IMX album with songs like First Time & Beautiful U Are. Enough praise on the artist himself, I sound like Chris Stokes. On with the album, MH.

This album starts off letting everyone know off top its TUG 4 life with LDB and Rome hittin up the Intro. Then it goes it to the songs biggest hit, Clubbin'. This R. Kelly penned smash mid-tempo dance record makes you want to do exactly what the title suggests, go clubbin'. Pop Yo Booty is another club hit, produced by Mr. Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri. Its got a great beat with just some fun lyrics for the club. That Girl is actually the first single of this album, (they pushed back the release date so that MH could work with JD and the Pied Piper). This song is a great, ORIGINAL, mid tempo ballad. But not the best ballad on the album.

My favorite song on the album is Because of You, which just happens to be his last single of the album. This song is so infectious, it makes you feel as good as you did when you were in high school, and it makes you feel optimistic about love. At least that's how it makes me feel. This song deserved...lol...served(his movie), a lot more noticed then it got, if everyone got to here it like they did Clubbin', it could have been a smash, but that is the music biz. Again, that's just my opinion.

The rest of the album has a real challenge keeping up with the first four cuts....lol...cuts(his UPN show), but they live up to make a great CD. Slow tracks like Walk Away, Grass is Greener, Love is a Game, and Alone show his Depth as an artist and ability as a singer. Some good mid tempo ballads on here, especially the silly but clever Can I Call You, and Good Luck, which sounds like it could be Because of You pt. 2. The dance songs keep the album good and busy so you never get bored, tracks like tempted and Actin Up.

The album ends as good as it starts, with the Remixes to That Girl and Clubbin'. Personally, I like the That Girl Remix more then the original song, being that its its own song, explaining what happens when "that girl" becomes the one he is found in bed with. The Clubbin Remix brings a changed up, but not changed beat, and some new lyrics from MH.

So as lengthy as this review is, it must mean I feel this album is an excellence in the R&B/Urban Crossover genre, because I don't right long about stuff I don't enjoy. If you have been hearing a lot of Marques on the TV or on the Big Screen lately, or heard him riding the 50 Candy Shop Remix, and don't have this record, U definitly need to go pick it up, it is a Gem.

4.0 out of 5 stars MH is the cd you've been waiting for..., November 10, 2003
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
This cd has songs for everyone. Songs about love, about making it on your own, clubbin'. Once u hear the cd for the 1st time, it will be hard for u to even stop listening. Even if u don't want to hear it anymore, there are just songs that u have to hear over and over. The best songs are mostly the slow songs such as "Grass is Greener," "Because of U," "Walk Away," "Love's a game" and "good luck." Those are probably the best songs on the album. In "Good Luck" u would actually think that he worked with Michael Jackson. It sounds just like Mike. People who have the cd, u know!! But this album is hot. It's good to have for the winter, and everybody needs a winter cd. Peace...

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS TO COME OUT IN A LONG TIME!!!, October 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
I have to give Marques Houston his props for this album. I advise everyone to buy this album because it is worth every cent! His vocal range surprised me. I knew he could sing, but he really surprised me in "Love's A Game" (which has now become one of my favorite songs) , "Walk Away", and his other songs. It's not often that you can listen to an album all the way through. I recommend this album to everyone. This is one of the best albums to come out since Usher's 8701.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solo it is, December 3, 2004
This review is from: Mh (Audio CD)
Honestly this cd ain't bad, it has it's beats and it's melodies the tracks that i found worth listening to where:

That girl
Clubbing
Pop that booty
Good luck
Tempted and
Actin' up

Other than that I skip over the tracks, i guess they're not bad but i just can't get into them. I personally don't like the remixes and i don't think they should have been included. But if you're a huge MH and Imx fan you'll love it
