Great performing, great recording, a must-have!,
By A Customer
This review is from: De Mi Alma Latina 2 (Audio CD)
You just can't buy the De mi alma latina (1) without having to purchase the second one. Domingo is at his best, and the recording quality is one of the best among the many Cds I have. A special track is the No.7 medley: Perdon/Obsesion with the great vocalist Maggie Carles. Also "Que daria", track no.4, which is a new song composed specially to suit Domingo's voice and style now became one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. This album also features "La paloma", "Cuando Calienta el sol", "Guantamera" & "Volver, volver" among many others. The only drawback of this album is the choice of the songs, which was difficult, because the De mi alma latina 1 took every song there is to take, and left a narrow choice for the 2nd to choose from.

This is a fantastic album. The selection of the musics is wonderful, with famous mexican, brazilian, spanish and other countries hits. Placido is wonderful, even singing in Portuguese. An excellent choice.Tracks 1,3,6 and 9 are beautiful.

Wonderful and i don't understand one word of spanish! The music is so beautiful just like in Vol. 1. All the songs are my favorite and his orchestra back-up just compliments his great wonderful voice. Totally enjoyable.

Heaven,
This review is from: De Mi Alma Latina 2 (Audio CD)
I didn't die but nevertheless went to heaven on playing this gorgeous album. The orchestrations are so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes. I'm an old fart who prizes melody above all. What passes for such these days mostly leaves me cold. But this album almost passes belief with the beauty of Domingo's wonderful voice, sensitively controlled, in no way overpowering but bringing out the full emotion contained in the lyrics. The trio of waltzes from Puerto Rico and Peru will make your knees weak.

To say that after the 1st Alma Latina there were few songs remaining shows the previous reviewer doesn't know latin music. Domingo could fill dozens more of these albums. As he says in the liner notes, he chose to go with medleys BECAUSE there were so many songs he wanted to include in the album. One of the most artful things about the album is the combination of songs into a particular medley. I especially liked the combination in track 8.
