Finally, he's back!,
By Dante Cincilus (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Mi Edad (Audio CD)
We can all 'Breathe Gentle', now that the Tiziano Ferro that we knew from '111' is back. Once again this powerful italian vocalist finds the perfect mix of deep lyrics, the right instrumentals and tempo to deliver a series of tracks that are breathtaking. I rank, 'A Mi Edad', 'El Sol Existe Para Todos' and 'Breathe Gentle' (ft Kelly Rowland) amongst his best ever. Other tracks including 'El Regalo Mas Grande' (ft Dulce from RBD) are also cleverly written and expertly performed.
Tiziano has an extraordinary talent of creating deep poetry and reciting it in the form of music. Others have tried to compare his style to that of Ricardo Arjona, but I must disagree. The italian artist has the ability to invoke emotion, while provoking a subconscious understanding of the lyrics being interpreted. This is why, while a good album, I did not find 'Nadie Esta Solo' that impressive. After hearing about the upcoming, 'A Mi Edad' I contemplated deeply before making this purchase. I bought it and started with the title track and found myself hitting the repeat button on almost all of them. I'm glad Tiziano has returned to a level surpassing that of '111' (which was an awesome album). 'A Mi Edad' is a definate must have.

Tiziano Ferro's "A Mi Edad" is another masterful piece of art from everyone's favorite Italian pop star. As with his previous albums, "Rojo Relativo", "111" and "Nadie Está Solo", this one is equally good and strong and does not disappoint. Every track has beautiful lyrics penned by Tiziano himself, who obviously has a unique and glorious style of songwriting, not to mention an incredible talent for it. The sound of the album is obviously more poised and mature than the previous ones, with more instrumental arrangements for the ballads. But it's still a pop album at heart, with some upbeat and uptempo tunes throughout. The pop sound of this album is still fun, but it has a sort of classy and mature sound to it, so it doesn't feel like your listening to just any Mainstream Top 40 pop-ditty. Also, it does feel like Tiziano has evolved in every aspect, musically, lyrically and of course... vocally. I don't know what classification as a singer he must be (baritone, tenor...etc.) but seriously, Tiziano Ferro has got to have one of the most powerful male voices in contemporary pop music. The guy CAN SING. In this album you can hear more how his voice has gotten deeper and lower while still having his unique sound. He sounds definitely more grown up that in 'Rojo Relativo' when he was just 21 and his voice was already amazing, but obviously still maturing. He still can sing pretty high and hit high notes right through the stratosphere. His duet with Kelly Rowland in 'Breathe Gentle" comes to mind, since Kelly has a very high-pitched voiced and the song's notes are very high also, but they compliment each other nicely.
For me, the standout tracks would have to be 'A Mi Edad', 'Breathe Gentle', featuring Kelly Rowland, and 'El Regalo Más Grande' featuring ex-RBD members Dulce María and Anahí. This last one is to me the true highlight of the album and very special to me since I'm a big fan of Tiziano and RBD. The song has the most beautiful lyrics EVER and have such a pure meaning of love. Really touching. It can be really universal or very intimate, I guess you can really dedicate it to anyone. Really, this song is a piece of art. The vocals here are among the best also; Tiziano sings it really passionately and he's complimented nicely by both Dulce and Anahí, who give this song a sweet touch. Both girls vocals are also excellent and go well with Tiziano's very masculine voice. It's even a bit romantic when at the end, Tiziano and Anahí seem to be singing to each other, but again the song has a much broader meaning. Again, this song is just the best, and may be THE BEST SONGS I'VE EVER HEARD. The rest of the tracks are also pure bliss, each a bit different from the other, so it keeps the album fresh but still keeping in tune with the musical mood of the album. Really, every song here is just great. Most of them are in Spanish, has 4 in Italian and one in English. I don't speak Italian but Tiziano's songs are just so amazing that I love his Italian songs and even end up learning the lyrics to the songs and singing along to them. They're just infectious. Of course I look the translation, but the Italian songs are just great to listen to, so if you don't know Italian I doubt it will matter and you'll love the songs. I assure you, you're more than likely to even learn to sing in Italian. All in all, the album has a bit of everything: heartwarming ballads, beautiful, deep lyrics, excellent musical arrangements, great upbeat pop tunes and memorable collaborations. The album I think is more comparable to Nadie Está Solo which was his most mature album to date, and the sound is around there too. I like all of his albums, but 'A Mi Edad' might just be his best yet. If you're a Tiziano fan you just HAVE TO HAVE THIS ALBUM. You'll love it! If not a fan, I suggest you buy it if you're into more mature-sounding pop music with great, meaningful lyrics and great vocals. Honestly, I think Tiziano has the talent to conquer the world (since he speaks and sings fluently in Italian, Spanish and English) and maybe he could even have a successful crossover to American soil. I suggest anyone to give this excellent singer a try and you'll fall completely in love with his music and you'll want to buy his albums. He captivated me since 2002 (when I was about 15) and have been a big fan ever since. He just keeps getting better with time. Overall, I give this album a BIG 10/10. Excellent album from an excellent artist. TRACKLIST: 1. "Tu Vida No Pasará" 2. "A Mi Edad" 3. "El Sol Existe Para Todos" 4. "Breathe Gentle" (featuring Kelly Rowland) 5. Yet another excellent album!,

I discovered Tiziano Ferro quite by accident on YouTube, and I have purchased every album he has put out. Although I miss the danceable, fun music of Rojo Relativo, I can appreciate the more mellow tunes as well - the faster songs really do not do his voice justice, and he truly has an amazing, expressive voice with an impressive range. This album does not have as many stand-out favorites as the previous albums, but I respect it more. I sense he is really starting to perform for himself, the music he WANTS to play, rather than catering to the public and giving them the more generic music that they are accustomed to. There is also a maturity in this new album that did not exist before, both in his choice of songs and in their composition. It is a shame that he is still virtually unknown in the US, we could use someone who could shake up the status quo like Tiziano.

This CD is really good. Personally, I prefer his earlier works - Rojo Relativo and 111 - but this CD is excellent. The songs start off fairly slow and steady become more upbeat. It definitely shows his growth as an artist and a maturing of age.

El regalo más grande,
By
This review is from: A Mi Edad (Audio CD)
