At the time , no other mariachi-based album had such an impact on the Spanish speaking world. Ana Gabriel had tapped into what alot of people didn't at the time , beauty in the Mexican folklore. Of course , now we have seen a resurgance of the style , with many different artists. On this incredibly crucial album "Mi Mexico" , she has adapted her own musical style and blended it with traditional mexican rhythms , to further enhance her versatility. Unlike many traditional ranchera albums , expecially one recorded by a woman , her thoughts are very demanding , never sounding vulnerable in a sense that we lose perspective of the point of view of the artist. yes , in a world still encarcerated by narrow minded ideals , Ana Gabriel surely stands out , and this CD is no exception , to further give you a glimpse of life from a Latin woman's eyes.

This is only my third listening of this album and already I'm battling tears, shivers running down my back. I'm not able to explain the power of this music, it's just unbelievable and the words and the music are in perfect synchronicity, again. Te amo Ana.

You'll want to play it over and over. Exquisite singing. Great songwriting. Perfect melodies. Great job on production. Fabulously Mejicana.

I first heard an Ana Gabriel song on the radio and asked my wife, "Who is that ?". My wife is latin and informed me of the artist. I did my research and finally decided to select this CD as my first. Needless to say it wasn't my last. I now have six or seven of her CD's, but I must say this is her best by far. I have recently gotten into Rocio Durcal because some of my latin friends and my wife said they are similar in ways. But when I entered my title for this review, I didn't mean only one of her best, I meant one of the best CD's of all music. I love all types of music. I have clasical, reggae, soul, rock, rap, jazz, latin, blues, etc., etc., etc. and this is one of my favorites of all time. Ana sings with such passion, that even though I don't understand spanish, I feel the emotion and some songs want to make you cry. Of course we all know that music is the universal language and this CD amongst many others just proves it.

Mi Mexico otro de los grandes exitos de Ana Gabriel, es un cd que te deja sin palabras, sintiendo el dolor de la verdad cuando se ama, cuando las discusiones son insignificantes, cuando el amor lo es todo ya sea a un amigo, a un amor, o a un pais. Ana Gabriel es la mujer mas admirable y hermosa que existe en mi corazon. Como tu no hay NADIE.

For the true affecionados of 'boleros', latin love songs. I have seen Ana in concert and am proud to say they don't over process her voice for her recordings. The voice is pure and so full of sentiment that it will often bring memories of your own experiences and bring tears to your eyes. That is a true artist, someone who can make you feel and live the music. You feel like she is "one of us".

Simply spectacular, her best album.

I first bought this CD Mi Mexico and became her big fan.
After that I bought almost all CDs of hers but still this Mi Mexico is my favorite.
This means after this CD I have had many little disapointment every time I bouth her CDs. Other CDs are also good. But this Mi Mexico is so special than others.

What can I say? I love her music, and I love this cd "Mi Mexico". Have nearly 20 of her cds. and have them downloaded to my computer using iTunes library. But a problem with this disc - I now have 2 of them, one I bought around 2000. Then a recently ordered a new one in case the cd was defective. Because when downloaded it has a hugh distortion like it was being played at full blast. It plays fine on any cd player. And I had downloaded a couple of songs onto my old musicmatch program years ago with no problem. But - is this copyright protected ? HELP !! Don't wanna buy mp3s.

I had Ana Gabriel's "Mi Mexico" CD before and misplaced it. It was my most listened to CD and I had to replace it. After losing the first CD I went through withdrawals and the songs remained in my head. I finally decided to check Amazon for availability before making an appointment with a doctor. The CD was cheaper than what my medical copay would have been. Thanks Amazon!
