5.0 out of 5 stars easy to use
I am not a handyman. I was a-feared. Can I do it. I paid 1200 dollars for this TV. Am I going to destroy it? Luckly, instillation was easy. I installed two tv's with this device and the sense of accomplishment still hasn't left me. I am very proud of this purchase. I give this product three thumbs up. 3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable
Not a bad value, here are some observations:
-Directions are sufficient. It took me about 45 minutes with the help of my roommate.
-You absolutely must use a stud finder. Once you are in the studs it is very stable.
-I hung from the wall plate (I weigh 180) when we were finished mounting it to test. It held me no problem.
-My TV is 40" you...

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent basic wall mount for big TVs, February 4, 2010

This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 - 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)
I bought this to mount my Sharp AQUOS LC60E77UN 60-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Gold Bezel and it works a treat. I've posted a couple of product pictures. The kit included the screws needed to mount this TV. The TV has a flat back, so I didn't need the included curve-compensating spacers.

The mount holds the TV about 2-3 inches from the wall, which is pretty good considering that it allows 30 degrees of tilt adjustment. The tilt adjustment is controlled with two tensioning knobs that are operated by reaching in from the sides. This is a little inconvenient on my Sharp, since the TV brackets are close to the middle, forcing me to reach waaaay in to turn the adjustment knobs. (IMO, this is Sharp's fault.)

The only thing missing from this product is a fine leveling adjustment feature for use after the bracket is on the wall. As currently shipped, you have to get the lag bolts positioned just exactly right, or the wall bracket won't be level, and the wall bracket determines the TV's angle. (This is a question of millimeters, so it's not the end of the world if you don't get it perfect. But that's the difference between 4 and 5 stars.)

If your wall is rough (I have paneling) it can be tricky to exactly position a drilled hole. I recommend you grab a small nail, like a finish nail or a picture-frame nail. Use the nail (and a hammer, if needed) to make an exactly positioned hole, then expand the hole with a small drill bit. Keep using increasingly larger bits until you have the size hole you need. This doesn't take very long with a keyless chuck drill, and it lets you be as precise as possible. Be sure that you measure *and* use a level to establish positions for subsequent holes.

The wall bracket is very easy to mount to a wood stud wall. A drill and power driver make fast work of the four lag screws. For other types of walls, other solutions are included. NOTE however that the documentation says that concrete block walls and steel stud walls are not supported (concrete block walls would require molly bolts, I suspect).

Once the wall bracket is mounted to the wall, and the TV brackets are screwed to the TV, the two sets are paired up. I'm a big dude, but my TV was bigger, so this part required two people. You can probably "work ahead" if you need to, and just get a helper to put the TV up and get it centered, tilted right, etc.

After hooking the top of the TV brackets over the wall bracket, each TV bracket has a little retaining screw that is used to hook the bottom of the brackets in place (preventing the TV from being "unhooked" without unscrewing). If you drive these screws up far enough, they will also prevent the TV from sliding side to side.

Overall, the product feels solid. The product is definitely "low end" - there is no extra metal, no plastic boot to hide the metal works, etc. But it's "basic" rather than "cheap." The bracket is SOLID on the wall, and after tightening everything up, the TV feels really anchored.

For the price, I am very pleased with this product. Recommended.

One other problem that I encountered was with the location of the TV's bracket holes. The Sharp bracket holes are not exactly centered top-to-bottom on the back of the TV. This affects where the axis of rotation will be located for tilting, and it also affect where the top (or bottom) of the TV will be with respect to the position of the wall bracket.

The TV brackets have several holes for attaching the brackets, so you should be able to compensate somewhat for the positioning of the bracket attachment points on your TV. But it behooves you to set up the brackets and *measure* the positions before you start the installation. Keep in mind that if you want to tilt the TV up or down, you will have to allow some extra space for the tilting. Don't just allow exactly the size of the TV - you need a couple of inches of swinging space.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, simple, operational....one minor overcomable hitch., July 20, 2009

This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 - 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)
I used this bracket to mount my Toshiba 55sv670u...a 121 lbs behemoth. the brackets are pretty easy to install and work really well. I was initially worried that I was going to have trouble finding three studs to mount to in the 34 or so inches the wall bracket provides, but I was able to mount quite securely.

The one and only thing that I ran into was that I sheared the heads off of the bolts when ratcheting them on. The lag bolts are crap. I went to the hardware store and spent $9 on higher quality bolts and was very happy with it afterward. I can't say this surprised me, that low grade bolt is pretty common among all these kits. My friend spent twice as much on his and had the same problem.

Once installed I tested it by hanging myself from it for 45 seconds (I weigh 280lbs) and the brackets did not bend nor budge. I was content that my TV would be safe hanging there.

-My TV is 40" you can see the wall mount behind the TV from almost any angle except straight on. So, if that'll bother you don't buy it.
-The TV hangs off the wall so you can see the wall mount very obviously from the side.

In summary, this wall mount does its job nicely for the price. It's not quite as nice and streamlined as my roommate's mount, but his was over $200.00.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, December 5, 2009

I'd buy one of these again, and would recommend it to a friend. It's about as simple to install as it could possibly be. Very solid quality of all the parts, including the screws and bolts. Very good instructions, and everything needed was included. It was as straight-forward and easy to install as mounting a TV on your wall could possibly be. The two vertical arms bolt onto the back of the TV. Evidently there is a standard for placing bolt holes on the back of flat panel TVs so one can attach a mount. Bolts of every common size are included. Then you screw the mounting bracket onto the wall, making sure that the screws go into studs. You should have a stud-finder for this; they are inexpensive. Good sized, quality, hex-head lag screws are included for the wall mounting, as well as concrete anchors, in case you have a concrete wall. After the arms are on the TV and the bracket is on the wall, you lift up the TV and hook it on, like hanging a picture on the wall. Once the TV is hanging, you tighten the two lock screws so it can't be lifted off again unless you loosen them. There were no frustrations, no "gotcha's", no cursing the company that made it. One nice surprise was that there is a built-in bubble level on the mounting bracket. That's a thoughtful extra that shows the manufacturer has a "what else can we do to make this better" attitude.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for 65" Panasonic Plasma TV, September 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 - 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU HAVE A 65" PANASONIC PLASMA TV

I recently purchased this product for a 65" Panasonic Plasma TV I was mounting on a wall and the wall bracket is too small for my 65" tv. The bracket I need is 42" inches or more and the bracket that comes with this product is only 36" inches

Good thing I have another TV I needed a mount for so I will use it for that tv instead.

I am going to give the Sanus VMPL3-B Tilt Wall Mount for 27" to 84" Displays (Black) a try since the wall bracket is adjustable.

I was advised by the vendor to return the product and get my money back but no need. I have another television that needs a wall mount and I measured this bracket which fits just fine.

Nothing against the vendor but they need to make sure they put a statement on there that says it will not work on 65" Panasonic Plasma TV's that require a bigger bracket than the one they sell which is only 36" in length.

Thanks
J

You want to install your brand new flat screen at the wall and already spent a lot of money on the TV itself so you need something that works and has a good price? GET THIS ONE because it is strong and easy to mount. If I mounted mine and it hasn't fallen in 1 month it means it's good. Of course I am smart: read the instructions and used a stud finder.

4.0 out of 5 stars Truely a 200$ Mount, December 3, 2008
This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 - 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)
This mount would definatly be sold for 200$ at any big box store. It is sturdy and solid with plenty of bolts, washers, spacers, etc. Easy to instal, total confidence in placing big 50" plasma. One of the main reasons that I chose this one was all the mounting holes on the base plate. This ensured that I could mount the tv in the middle of the wall even if the studs were not on center.

This was my second try at a tilt mount for my 46" LCD TV. This one was long enough to span 3 wall studs on 16 " centers, which I needed so I could mount the TV in the right position over a fireplace. I also preferred attaching to 3 studs with a large TV, to make a more solid installation. The first mount I tried was too short and would only span 2 wall studs, placing the mount off-center. This model was easy to istall and the built-in level was a big help when working alone.

Excellent value. I used this mount for a panasonic 65" plasma TV. Worked great. All the hardware I needed was included. Some of the mounts can exceed $200.00+. I think I payed less than $60.00. It's been installed for two weeks. I have checked it frequently and have had no problems. The tilt works great also.
