Editorial Reviews

2007 release, an album from this lively performer from Spain. Buika mixes Flamenco with Soul, Jazz and Funk, always keeping her sound fresh and original. She has earned critical and commercial success across Europe and has even enchanted audiences in Las Vegas, Nevada! 'It takes all of one minute to appreciate why this album has been such a hit in Spain [...] the results are nothing less than hypnotic. A star is born!'- Clive Davis The Sunday Times. Warner. 2007.

Customer Reviews

Buika's smokey, silken voice is filled with sincere feeling.

You will discover something to your liking most likely, especially if you like Flamenco inspired music that incorporates a fusion of jazz and rhythm and blues.

I however do love Concha and recommend this CD to all interested in her work.

I was in Spain and it was late at night. I was scrolling through channels on the television and I came upon a live concert of various flamenco musicians. Enters Concha Buika . . . I was quite unprepared. I was so moved that I couldn't stop talking about it for days. Riviting!! absolutely riviting performance! and it's the first time I've ever used that word. She is probably the most unique and fantastic singer/musician I have ever encountered. Her voice is a natural instrument so fine, so beautiful and rich that it's difficult to believe that she's only human. Many flamenco artists had performed, all great. But, when Concha took the stage her intrinsic beauty alone was so stunning that everyone was immediately captivated. Then she began to sing . . . it was devastatingly beautiful!!! Something so magnificent and pure that she floored the entire audience. When her set was finished there was a brief silence as everyone collected themselves, then a standing round of applause that must have gone on for five minutes. Absolutely remarkable!! She redefines the word rare.

This is my first review ever on Amazon, but I feel compel to let everybody know how great this album is. It is jazz, it is blues, it is Spanish music at its best. This one is on my top 5 ever. It is just brilliant.

Absolutamente recomendable.

i first became exposed to concha buika in 2002 when i heard her singing a fantastic house music dance mix called EVERYDAY and right then i knew this lady had what they call in the biz: "it" . She is one of the most gifted and talented performers i have seen in the last decade. her versatility in singing ballad, flamenco,afro-cuban,house,techno,dance,and other genres is amazing and do them all well.Ipredict her the next up and coming. Americans are slow to impress sometimes, but be patient, talent prevails.THis cd is all geared to the slow primitive jazz flamenco compositions all emotive and spiritual. great cd .

I enjoyed this CD. Even though I don't speak the language of the singer, I could sense what she was talking about by the emotion that came through in the way she sang the words and her body language. The music fit the words, set up the mood of the CD, and added to the story she was telling.

I first discovered Buika through the Music of the World collections, which I also recommend, put together by the late BBC radio DJ Charlie Gillett (R.I.P.). Buika is a unique vocal talent, and many of the arrangements for her songs are, I find, quite captivating. "Mi Manera" alone is worth the price of the CD! What an absolutely beautiful piece of music!

This woman's singing is almost indescribable..here are some attempts: spirited, soulful, emotional, if you love Latin, Brazilian, Flamenco - raspy, deep, rich vocals...this is the right choice. It was for me. She's amazing.
