Editorial Reviews

Review

" Mi lengua is a valuable collection that can serve not only professors and future researchers in the field of teaching Spanish to bilingual speakers, but also students in the area of political reform (reforms surrounding inherited language), interested in making new proposals or in disseminating new pedagogies." -- Estudios de lingüística aplicada

"Provides credible research and sound pedagogical strategies for addressing the education of the ever-increasing numbers of Spanish heritage language speakers in the United States. Its publication is timely and it should be required reading for all people who currently teach Spanish or plan to teach it in the future." -- Language Problems and Language Planning

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Karen K. Ippolito on September 29, 2007
Format: Paperback
I bought this book for a graduate class and I am thoroughly enjoying both the book and the class. The book offers great insight in to teaching heritage learners. It is quite different than teaching a foreign language. I would recommend this book to anyone but especially to foreign language teachers teaching a heritage learner class.

This book opens one's eyes to the future of education as we all have bilingual children in our classrooms, especially Hispanic/Latin children. We are our children's advocates and voices; this book gives one food for thought.
