Mi Siglo is composed of a hundred scenes, or a hundred vignettes, each showing a different historical moment in the voice of a different narrator.
Gunter Grass trusts his readers. He doesn't think that is necessary to explain every character or the context of every sentence. A young accountant may not know who Puskas was; a medical student, may not be sure what happened in Berlin the Kristallnacht; for others the names of Junger or Remarke sound remote. It doesn't matter.
