A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mia Hamm (Ferguson Career Biographies) (Hardcover)
In my opinion this book was very good and it had a lot of good details. i also thought it was very well orgainized. my favorite part of the book was the parts were Mia would train and the go and win or lose the World cup. i also really liked the World Cup sections because it was the longest section since there were three of them. but i really like it because it showed you how coompetitive Mia was when it came to being the best. i also liked it because it showed you in a lot of detail of who Mia was as a person, like how she alot of the times passed the ball off to her teamates so they could score or how instead of the press focusing on Mia Mia wanted the press focusing on her team and how they are all amzing players. my other favorite parts in the book was that the author captured that soccer was not Mias life and how she had other important causess close to her heart besides soccer. for example every year Mia would set up a game called Garrets Game which is a game that mia and her team playedd every year and donated money to bone marrow reserach. because a bone marrow transplant went wrong for her older brother Garret and he ended up passing away at 28 leaving behind a wife and a kid. but that shows Mia is a well rounded person and she not one of thoes soccer maniacs were there whole life revolves around soccer and i really like how the author caputured that how Mia was press shy and well rounded. But over all this book was very good very detailed. i would recommend this book to people who are looking for a role model because she had a lot of people who looked up to her. i would also recommend this to people who enjoy soccer or want to get better at soccer because there is a part in the book where the author did a section about how to become a better soccer player and i would also recommend this to people who are looking for an interesting book to read or to someone who just wants a good read about someone famous and very popular. something different that Mia did that most other girls wouldnt do to become better was that she practiced so hard and so much. while girls were playing with barbie dolls she would be playing with her soccer ball getting better. but another thing she did that most girls did not do was she played for the boys she always played on a boys team. and a lot of the times she was at the top with scoring and assists for her team and sometimes there leage. at the age of 14 mia was seen by the head coach of the national team and he thought she was exceptional and she made the team. this was all really great information in the book. I really liked this book and it was sort of challenging so i was put with a challenge which is always good.
