4.0 out of 5 stars Great looking.... but otherwise, average fan
The reason why you would want this fan is the looks. The features are pretty average and after about a year, it's still worked the same as the day I took it out of the box.

Other impression:
- rather quiet
- average air movement

2.0 out of 5 stars the oscillator broke in 2 motnhs
The fan was pretty good, but the oscillator broke in just 2 months. Thanks to American express return protection plan I was able to get all my money back even though the 30 days return period had expired and Amazon and Millegro were not going to accept the return.

Given that it broke in just less than 2 months I don't think it is a good product. I have one...

Whilst American's come to Canada for the healthcare, Canadian's come to America for the sweet Miallegro fans. Ordered and sent to a mailbox, came on time as promised, and the product is exactly as listed. It's one of the slickest fans I have ever seen. The one thing that I was uncertain about from the description was the black portion between the brushed metal - it's plastic, not steel as it may appear to some. Fairly quiet and performs fan stuff, as expected.

I wouldn't usually write a review, but Miallegro actually called me a few days after I had received the fan to ask if I was satisfied with the product and see if there was anything they could help me with. Superb customer service! I hold their products and customer care in high esteem and will certainly buy from them again.

John

This is a TRUE and remarkable example of customer service!

E-MAIL to Miallego dated 7 June, 2010:

I'm sorry to say that while assembling the Miallego Model: 1760 Tower Fan I had an accident and the top of the unit was broken off. No excuses, but I'm at a loss if anything can be done to rectify my misfortune.

Please advise at your convenience.

Within 24 hours; REPLY from Miallego:

Thank you for your purchase from Miallegro's collection of small home appliances. I'm sorry to hear that the 1780 Tower Fan was damaged during assembly. We will make a one-time exception and send you a new 1780 Tower Fan as a replacement. Along with the new fan you will also receive a pre-paid return shipping label so that you may return the broken unit to us. When ready, kindly drop off the unit to be returned at a UPS location near you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

Note: This is an exceptional example of customer service! I therefore endorse Miallego and their products most emphatically!

Just got my Miallegro 1780 fan. Installation was quite easy. It took me about 5 minutes. Basically, you unscrew, put the base on, and screw 6 bolts back. There was nothing else to be done.

Compared to a regular fan, it is relatively quiet. But it is not super quiet as some of the comments stated. When the fan is set at low you CAN hear the fan running during the day. If you have some people over and have music on on the background, maybe you won't hear the fan running. When the fan is set at high the noisy level will be equivalent to a regular fan at Medium speed.

The amount of air the fan is blowing was of my primary concern when I ordered the item. The concern was immediately gone when I turned it on the first time. Note that this fan is not a complete room air-circulating fan. It is to keep one or two persons cool. Well, very cool.

The fan looks fantasitic. It's quite tall! The entire fan has the "Made In Italy" look except the bottom of the fan, the buttons on the fan body, and the remote control. They have the cheap "Made In CHINA" feel. But then those are small parts relative to its entirety.

The 5 operating buttons on the fan body changes their colors as the mode changes. For example, set at low speed, the fan button goes red. set at mid speed, it goes orange (but it looks redish). high speed changes the color to green. Set at 2-hour timer, the timer button goes red. set at 4-hour timer, the button goes orange (again it looks almost red). Set at 8-hour timer, it goes green. There are 5 buttons: Power On/Off, Fan speed(low, mid, high), Osil. On/Off, Timer(off, 2hr, 4hr, 8hr), Wind type (fixed air flow/natural air flow). Set at Natural air flow the fan changes its speed automatically (low to high to low to mid to high to mid to low) as if it is simulating outside wind. I can't think of any circumstances where I would use that functionality but.. It's there for some people.

The bottom line is 1) it looks great! 2) good air flow! 3) relatively quiet! 4)it looks like a $95.00 fan!

I hope its durability is as good, too! We shall see!

This is a fabulous fan. We have two dogs and live in the country; didn't want a window fan, which would wreck our view, or something that tails and paws could get caught in. We have used Hunter ceiling fans for years, and have one in our down-stairs sun room. However, up-stairs the ceiling is too low for a Hunter. It's a snap to assemble, and it seems to be very well made. The first night we had it on low: it was 5' from the window and 10' from our bed. The breeze was just perfect. It is also very quiet. Our only minor quibble is that the remote is too small, and the batteries difficult to remove and replace. It is too bad that the company doesn't offer a larger remote that one could buy as an accessory (sort of what Bose offers). Still, if you don't mind paying [...] bucks for a fan this is the one for you. I don't think you can do better, but you could do much worse.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fancy <> quiet., November 10, 2010

For some reason I thought an expensive, sleek looking fan would be quiet because of the fan design, but that didn't really end up being the case.

Pros -

Fan blades are pretty quiet, and concealed, no worries about hurting yourself.

I like the options this has, rotation/speed/timer, kind of standard but not all fans have timers.

Looks nice, low profile, a standard fan really does take up quite a bit of profile when it rotates, this stays out of the way nicely.

Comes with a remote that you can store in the back of the fan, it's nice to be able to adjust the fan remotely.

Cons -

Motor is noisy, I don't think I got a defective one either, but anything over the lowest setting and you can really tell this motor is cranking, it's distracting, I can hear it quite a ways away on medium settings.

This fan is a bit expensive for what you get, honestly I had one very similar to this at nowhere near the price that lasted me 4-5 years. I've only had this one for half a year now, but I doubt it's going to end up being worth the money in the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is cool, but just a little bit unstable, September 14, 2010

so the design was really awesome, a lot of my friends liked it, but when it turned, it was not so stable, the whole body could shake a little bit sometimes. But in summary, it was a very good one!

i like this fan, it looks great, perhaps the best i was able to find on internet or in stores and works great as well. on the lowest position the sound is really minimal. i gave 4 stars because of the remote control, it is small- not comfortable, and the white paint came out in 4-5 days after i started to use it. otherwise great fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, August 9, 2010

I could not believe how beautiful this fan is! It is almost more of a decoration, with the bonus being its functional utility instead of vice versa. I know some reviewers were less than thrilled with the power but everybody in my household found it to be perfect. It does not blast out a gust of air but rather blows a really effective comfortable breeze. My one complaint is that the remote control does not really work well. You must be ony a few feet away and directly in front of the unit for it to work. Maybe the battery was old so I will try replacing it to see if it helps.
