My daughter in law is from Venezuela and she makes us arepa's when we visit. We love them. I was making them on a griddle but it takes really long. I ordered this arepa maker and it is great. It cooks them faster and works perfect. I love it. This seller was super to order from. Can't say enough about them and the arepa maker. Order yourself one. I ordered through Amazon.

My family love the new arepa maker. I got a little bad critic from the other arepa cookers for not making them the old fashioned way but my kids can easily make them and is quick and ready to eat. It is also easy to clean! I'd recommend the Arepa maker to anyone who loves Arepas and it makes a great gift for the holidays!

After having made arepas by hand for over 40 years, and refusing to use any machines, I have to admit I was wrong. My family gave me the Miallegro Arepa maker for Christmas, and as soon as I used it, I decided I will not make them by hand any more!
I plugged it in and proceeded to heat the Arepa Maker as indicated. Meanwhile, I mixed the arepa meal as usual and filled every space and closed it to heat up. My whole family was observing the cooking time (I set it to 15 minutes) in anticipation. Taking out the arepas once they were cooked was easy and hassle-free.
Surprise, surprise: The exterior was cooked to perfection, nice and crunchy, and the meal inside was totally cooked, also to perfection. Big applause, everyone took an arepa and filled it with grated gouda cheese. You should have been there to hear all the Uhhhmmms and Ahhhs!
Did 2 more batches (family of 6 hungry men) and the results were always the same. I have since been using this Arepa maker twice or more a week, and I am very satisfied with the end result.
Perhaps the only issues that could make this Arepa maker better are: 1. Make the Round time setter more rugged, for better grip. 2. Put a bell so that it rings when it's done!
Our sons plan to buy the Miallegro Arepa maker, to use it in college. They love it! I love it!

This has a timer on it. It doesn't work, right out of the box. I'm still trying to figure out if the timer was intended to turn the device off. It will stay on by itself with the timer stuck, so make sure you watch it if you decide to purchase this.

That said, this is a really neat idea if you're gluten-free. Arepas can be made from flours other than wheat, or corn if you're also allergic. It's a fantastic way to make small sandwich size buns really fast.

Quinoa Flour Arepa

1 cup quinoa flour (Bob's Red Mill)

1 cup hot water

1 tbsp butter

Mix well. Make into tennis ball sized balls. Put each ball in a well of the arepa maker. Using a clock or standard kitchen timer (because the timer on this doesn't work!), cook for 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat.

Serve with butter or cheese. Yummy.

P.S. I use Donarepa arepa corn flour from my local Fiesta market. It doesn't say (in Spanish or English) anything about being made in a facility that also processes wheat, and the arepas it makes are apparently gluten free and taste to-die-for.

Five stars for Miarepa. the arepas are like the ones my mom used to make - the difference being they are a lot easier to make now. They come out thin and golden, and really quick

MiAREPA me encanta!, al principio tenia dudas de comprarlo por que pense que tenia que cocinar (7) siete arepas cada vez, para salir de dudas llame a Miallegro y me aseguraron que no es necesario, que puedes cocinar desde 1 hasta 7 arepas por vez. La otra cosa que me encanto! , es que las arepas salen a la medida exacta para poder rellenarlas, no tienes que desperdiciar masa por que es el tamaño perfecto de arepa. Por ultimo, el teflon o metal anti-adherente ayuda machismo al momento de limpiarlo por que realemente la masa no se pega

I love it, it is so useful and you can make really good arepas and fast just 7 minutes. It's a great product.

With two sizes it is great for families! However, you don't have to use all the spaces for perfect arepas. My son raves about his new arepa maker! He never made them before. He found this product to be easy to use and easy to clean--he just uses a damp cloth. The areapas are perfect every time--golden brown and crunchy on the outside completely cooked but still soft on the inside.

I couldn't wait to get this product out of its box and try it out! I think it works great! Its not drying for the arepas they are thoroughly cooked in the time specified (which is greatly reduced from the stovetop time!) I was a little concerned when I read other reviewers say that the button breaks. However, my belief is that with a little care it shouldn't break at all. I noticed that it is a bit delicate but not completely fragile so with a gentle hand there should be no reason for the button to break. My only complaint is that now I have no excuses to make arepas more often!!
