Great heavy-duty blender,
This review is from: Miallegro 7080 Ice Crushing Blender - 500 Watts, Stainless Steel Base & 50-Ounce Glass Jar
I just threw a party last weekend at my new apartment - I got this blender cuz it was big and looked nice (and I thought it might inspire some creative margaritas!)
The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

First, let me say I hardly write reviews, and when I read them, I usually filter negative ones because the people sound nasty to deal with, or have never been happy with ANYTHING they ever purchased, like my nasty mother-in-law.
When I saw the picture of this on Amazon, I thought it looked pretty good, was high capacity, and at least the bowl was glass, so why not spend a bit more and get something nice? When it arrived, I was disappointed in how thin the steel bottom was, and how cheap the plastic felt. Not the grade of plastic you would use to transmit 500 watts of ice crushing power and expect it to last a long time. Luckily we kept our 30 year old Osterizer, built like a tank, but getting kind of ratty. So, using it. Maybe it will work so well, we'll keep it anyway? Perhaps the blade design and high capacity will convince us to just treat it gently and love the performance? No. It never worked. DOA. I saw there was a safety switch mechanism where the bowl had to meet up and two marks would line up. This was not even mentioned in fold out directions. Really, should a blender even NEED directions? Drunk people have no problem using them! Well, we had everything lined up plugged in, and tried every position and permutation of the (cheap plastic) rotary switch and "ice crushing" button. This made the decision to return it easy. Now I'm waiting for an RMA from this company, and instructions for return. It looks like I'm out the $11.50 to get it here, and whatever it takes to get it back. Likely almost half the cost of the thing to begin with. It doesn't even look like it was packaged for USA consumers. I didn't see "Made In China", but I did see it was "Henchod" in China. Junk. Overpriced. While repacking it, I see the base has a slight smooth dent from shipping to me. stainless bottom is very thin. I think I'm going to just find new pieces and O-Rings for our Osterizer and refurb it! I just looked at that and asked my wife about it. It was a wedding present to HER mother! So it's 47 years old and works fine. I'm going to find new rubber rings and also replace the power cord, etc, and clean all the nooks and crannies. It's REAL stainless steel, so it WILL come clean, even if I use my Italian made Vaporetto steam cleaner! haha! (see? There are products I will sing songs about, in case you filter these posts like I do!) Why the heck did we even consider throwing that out? It's also "Made in USA, Milwaukee Wisconsin" by the John Oster Company. Power transfer look like square BRASS motor driver into BRASS bottom of blade assembly in the bowl. 11/10 Update! I just had refurbed our old US Made Oster blender. It looks great! You can't buy stuff made like that for under $250 or so these days! That blue thing from China was such disposable garbage! The link between the bowl and blender was plastic gear to plastic gear! Incredibly bad design! My Oster is Brass to Brass! Shove it China!

I recently changed colors in my kitchen from red to blue & looked for months for small kitchen electrics in blue. After many tries I chanced upon the Miallegro products and, because they were so inexpensive I decided to give them a try. I purchased 3 products, the stand/hand mixer, the blender & the coffee maker. All three products perform as well or better than the expensive name brands I have used for years...Cuisinart, Kitchen Aid, etc. The mixer can be used as a stand mixer or just pop off the top & use it as a hand mixer. The bowl is a little smaller than other brands, but I have some older mixer bowls that will fit if I need larger. The blender container is much larger than other brands which is nice for making larger batches of drinks & it crushes ice great! It's a little loud, but takes much less time than others I have had, especially if you're using a lot of ice. The coffee maker makes a full 12 cups & has a permanent filter which is so much nicer than using paper filters, and the coffee tastes great. It doesn't have a clock or a programmable feature but I don't need those, so it's not a problem for me.
All in all, I am very pleased with my purchases...by buying 3 at the same time I saved a lot on shipping charges...the total for all three items, including shipping, was under $130! You can't even buy 1 of the big name brands for that. And they're really cute, too, and look great on my kitchen counter!

Search of approximately 3 hours for a reasonable cost on a BLUE blender, brought me to this product. The glass jar is a positive (away from petoleum plastic), although it is very heavy.
In spite of long whizzing/blending even a banana - within a pint of milk - is not thoroughly blended. It is a challenge to screw the jar into place on the base, made more difficult due to jar weight. It IS BLUE...at least the base & cap, and the price was reasonable where all others are highly overpriced. |
