5.0 out of 5 stars Set The Record Straight
Alright, I usually don't write reviews on this stuff cuz I'm too busy refining my mixing skills, but let's talk genres. FIRST OF ALL, progressive house is all but dead and gone as far as a genre of music. And true HOUSE music is not even the same thing as hard house/progressive trance. This CD is NOT house music, it's a mix of true progressive trance and hard...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good selection, poor production
This is not a bad disc, it just isn't a great disc.
GA's track selection shows that he is no doubt on top of his genre, but unfortunately the transitions are somewhat simple if not flawed. There just isn't anything unique or powerfull about this compilation. I guess if one was to consider that he is an American trance DJ, he should be given credit since there are...

This CD is NOT house music, it's a mix of true progressive trance and hard progressive trance. Acosta, well, the guy is good and can mix very well. Those who truely know DJ music and actually spin themselves can tell that this CD was not mixed by an amateur in a garage. Every CD Acosta has done is masterfully mixed.

2.0 out of 5 stars An average release, but George could've done better, April 14, 2005
This review is from: Miami (Audio CD)
I'll start with disc 2. The first three songs get you in a mood that the rest of the cd can't provide. The only exception is Zed X's "The Storm", which should've been track 4, that way the only good songs would've been grouped together! I'll give cd 1 a solid 3 stars just cause I'm more into hard trance, and I don't mean that progressive crap on cd 2. I mean real hard trance, like George's Touched cd 2. Anyway, cd 1 on Miami provides such an emotional feel. It's definitely George's most emotional cd yet. "Push Through", "Let the light shine in", and "Waiting" is the best streak of songs for me. Especially "Let the light shine in", such powerful vocals! I love Jono Grant!! However, PVD's "Time of our lives" has no business on here!!

I guess if one was to consider that he is an American trance DJ, he should be given credit since there are not a lot of good trance DJs in this country.
This disc is just music, it's not an experience and for what it's worth, it will do the trick.

this CD is not a good mix of any kind. Cd one is boring to death with no variation in theme or rythtym or pace; Epic Trance. Cd 2 is a bit more likable with more progressiveness however the tracks that were selected for this mix are a bit dated and annoying. this is the music people listen and THINK this is what trance is. The only good track is Pure Thrust with Nu NRG. Pass! you'll be glad you did!

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, not great, December 9, 2003

I really like Acosta and was excited when I bought this album because I saw a lot of tracks I liked were on it. Once I listened to it I was quite happy overall but a little disappointed in some areas. First off it's not quite as melodic (especially the 2nd disk haha) as I thought it would be but that's not a bad thing, just unexpected. Also, some of the track selections stink which is unfortunate. But the thing that really gets me is how long into each track the main melodies come into play. Most of the tracks take so long to build up that when they finally get going it's sort of a let down. I especially noticed this on "let the light shine in" which I've always particularly liked. The mix on Tiesto's Nyana is far better. Overall a good mix but not the best I have heard from this great DJ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some People are Confused, November 20, 2003

This is a TRANCE CD, not house. CD 1 is Uplifting/Melody trance while CD 2 is Hard/Dark Trance. Miami is Acosta's best cd he has released in my opinion. If you want a house CD go elsewhere like Bad Boy Bill's Behind the Deck CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acosta Drops Another..., October 26, 2003
This review is from: Miami (Audio CD)
Those who said this album is all House music must not have been listening. There are several hints of progressive trance in this mix, along with the "epic anthem" and hard trance Acosta is best known for. I must say that this is one of George Acosta's finest mixes. I am glad to see that Acosta changes his sound in every one of his new mixes. This album is excellent to dance to, and I would recomment it for everyone's trance collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars It takes a few times to really enjoy it!, October 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Miami (Audio CD)
I did not like this album the first few times of listening to it. I feel in love with "Touched" and I was so excited to purchase this one. I thought that it was going to be more of a good thing. I was really unhappy in the beginning. I've given it a few spins and I'm starting to enjoy it. I do not think that it is as good as "Touched." "Miami" is a more darker and heavier album. I think that George is still moving forward in the trance world. I just think that the tone of this album is not what Acosta's fans are used to. It is a great album with more of a disturbing edge to it. Not bad at all. You just have to be in the mood for this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trance not House, October 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Miami (Audio CD)
Please do not let the other reviews turn you away from this CD. This is a great CD for any trance collection. I can see where people hear the house in this one, but not at all does it take away from the trance that he is so good at. I would have to say that about 15 percent of the two disk's is house. The first CD is truely a great uplifting trance CD. The second CD is also great, but some house is mixed in. Overall, this should be a deffinate purchase for any fan of this kind of music.
