Miami Ink brings together a brotherhood of tattoo artists. They learned their craft together as apprentices in South Beach. Then they went their separate ways. From Los Angeles to New York, all have become renowned artists with celebrity clientele that wait months to be inked by the masters. Now, 10 years later, they're coming home. Back to the place where it all began, South Beach, to open a tattoo shop together, live together and teach their traditions to a new generation. Their way - the right way. This is a reality series about life behind the scenes at Miami Ink, a custom tattoo parlor. The series is also a study of the interplay between 4 old friends (and 1 apprentice) as they live and work together in the pursuit of their passion: the art of tattoo. Episode 5: Yoji learns the hard way that he has a long way to go before the guys let him tattoo for real. Meanwhile, the shop has a constant flow of clients and characters. Adrienne, is the shop's first return customer, as she comes back to see her favorite artist, Garver, and get a lotus flower tattooed on her lower back. Cindy comes in to get a memorial for her dead father, and Tom comes in to get a memorial for his dead cat, Freckles. Phil, a former rock star with the band Skid Row, comes in with his kids to get their names tattooed to show his recommitment to them after years of being on the road.
