5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating story
There were a lot of things I liked about this book. One, it was well written because it was done in collaboration with a journalist.
Two, the stories are believable. If you don't believe in the existence of psychic powers, That won't be true for you.
Three, it provides a new flavor for the way you experience Miami. A very interesting and exotic city...

The real issue with "Miami Psychic" isn't the news trickling out from south Florida that "Regina Milbourne" has a far more....colorful... past than even this volume's neon cover might have you think (ranging, if the papers have it right, from standard fortunetelling scams to jewelry theft), but that neither of the credited authors apparently has much ability to tell a story. Frankly, a "real" tell-all sounds like it would have been much more interesting than this grab-bag of portentous anecdotes. What are reputable publishers doing putting stuff like this out?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea., August 26, 2006

I am most definitely a believer. I am not going to claim that the author is a fake or a fraud. However, I had two large problems with this book.

The first is that I find it horribly unbalanced that the author chose to speak on behalf of psychics throughout the book. "Psychics don't..." this and "when a psychic..." that. Not all psychics share the same belief system, and not even a majority of them follow the author's religious beliefs. For the author to speak on behalf of them is similar to her speaking on behalf of all Gypsies everywhere: inappropriate in daily talk, but outrageous in print. The psychics I know personally would never, ever, do the horrible things the author is responsible for in this book. Their morals prevent them from casting spells to control another's free will, which include love spells. It's too bad her faith in God didn't deter her from mind control.

My other problem with the book is the many spelling and grammar errors through it. How many editors were responsible for this book? Not one did his or her job.

Overall, I found the book too full of religious dogma, too excusatory of the author's actions [help! God's gift corrupted me and made me walk away from God!], and very, very hypocritical. If your message is that we should all turn to God, lead good lives, and follow the Christian way, maybe you should steer clear of penning sensationalistic, corrupt books full of sin and debauchery.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very, very unpleasant book., May 31, 2008

This review is from: Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante (Hardcover)
Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante is a book I stumbled upon in a used book shop and purchased on a whim. It was difficult for me to read, in that the subject matter was more about what I perceive to be immoral activity than psychic abilities.

Certainly, I would not want this author as a "confidante." And I certainly do not value her as an author.

Last, it gives a story with a Gypsy background. That makes it a unique read.
I couldn't put it down and read it in two days.

It was so good it only took me 2 days to finish this book. I have seen many psychics in my time and I can honestly say this book portrays so much of the truth in human nature and we can learn so much how we can be better people from this book. It is never too late to be re-born into God. Hope you guys will love this story as much as I did! Godbless......JH ( Hawaii)

1.0 out of 5 stars Gullibility, April 26, 2007
This review is from: Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante (Hardcover)
I'm not psychic and don't pretend to me. Otherwise possibly "higher powers" would tell me why ANYONE could buy into this self-contradictory, silly collection of tales of con-games played on innocent people. The author claims to be proud of making some poor elderly woman lie on a tree stump and be stabbed by phoney voodoo king! She can't even keep her story straight. In one chapter she condemns Santaria and in the next starts touting cures that are obviously based on Santarian ritual and background. In yet another she claims she practices Santaria. Her description of Voudon is so innaccurate as to be a joke, obviously because some other "voodoo" priestess was her rival in playing local con-games and because it was a good way to scam people out of more money by claiming that this other woman had "cursed" them. As for the ghost-writer of this nonsense would you'd think she'd be ashamed to give people of Haitian and El Salvadorean extraction sterotypical and viciously deragatory accents and descriptions. This book is disgusting and Gina Mae should be ashamed of herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Reading! Fun, Fun, Fun to read, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante (Hardcover)
I just finished this book. I had to write since I would definitely love to read Regina Milbourne's autobiography. This book is loosely based on her life, and is fiction mostly, leaving it very entertaining. I completely enjoyed it. I know some people don't believe in psychics but the book is a good read and will give you the good, bad and ugly of the world. It is a nice break from reality. Looking forward to the autobiography.

This review is from: Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante (Hardcover)
THIS BOOK IS A WINNER!!!!!! I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. I READ THE WHOLE BOOK IN TWO DAYS. I WISH I COULD ONE DAY MEET THE AUTHOR. SHE SEEMS VERY REAL AND KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING. ITS HARD TO FIND A REAL PSYCHIC IN THIS WORLD BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE REAL DEAL NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS... ITS UNFORTUNATE THERES ALOT OF MEAN, JEALOUS "WANT A BE'S" IN THIS WORLD. I SAY THUMBS UP! GREAT BOOK............
