ILL lyrics + ILL production = Mic Club: The Cirriculum,
By
This review is from: Mic Club: The Curriculum (Audio CD)
"Canib---h don't want to beef with Slim, NOOOOOOO" - Eminem (from Square Dance) It's really funny how Eminem is concentrating only on Benzino right now and totally avoiding Canibus. Sure shows the b---- in Slim... It's about time that hiphop's best-kept secret, Canibus, started making noise again. After last year's controversial, misunderstood, blunder 'C True Hollywood Stories', Bis put out something truly great both lyrically and production-wise... 'Mic Club: The Cirriculum' is intended for hardcore Bis fans or underground fans abroad. The complex highly intelligent rhyming on this will be over any Nelly fan's head! This is just straight hardcore LYRICS LYRICS LYRICS.... there are basically NO choruses to be found on this CD!! (who needs a chorus anyway) This'll satisfy anybody's lyrical appetite... Bis goes well beyond 100 bars almost on each song... (he has the ability to make 100 bars look like an easy task now!) The best thing Canibus has ever done in his career was to form an alliance with Jedi Mind Tricks! Even though there's only one track with them, having Bis rhyme over a Stoupe beat was the perfect ingredient to a bangin' CD! (Canibus & Stoupe - will be releasing a CD next spring--- be ready to cream your pants)... Stand out tracks: "Drama A/T" - see review for Cenior Studies * notice how basically the stand out tracks I mentioned make up about 80% of the album... This CD is like '2000 BC' and all of the 'Pre-Can-I-Bus' multiplied by 10! This CD is worth the $$$ you pay for it... Don't sleep, support Canibus, support underground hiphop.... Hiphop is dying... I'm Out... Mind Power!!

If you don't like hooks and chorus and enjoy pure rap, this album's for you. This is an emcee not BSing w/ commercial ish. Pure lyrics. Due to complex lyrics, this album isn't meant for uneducated individuals. If you're smart and like rap, cop this album! Let the mind stimulation begin.

Canibus says this on the first song of the album, and after listening to the album you should be able to see why. Canibus is definitely back. I never heard his last album, but several people (whose musical opinion I actually trust) said that it was kinda whack and Bis was tryin to go mainstream or somethin. Anyway, Canibus picks up where he left off on 2000 B.C. on this album. The first thing to note about this album is that there are very few songs with choruses, which I find very impressive. Second, on the majority of songs, he flows without stopping from start to finish and spits lyrics that make sense without pausing or sounding stupid like most rappers out there today. Also, the beats are very good overall and mix together really well with Bis's style of rap. And you would think that with Eminem's recent dissing Canibus, that he would focus on dissin Eminem. While he throws some hard disses in at opportune moments on the album, he doesn't focus the album on dissin in particular. He mainly focuses on flowin and keepin rap real. All in all, I'd say this is one of the best albums I've heard this year (along with Talib Kweli & Blackalicious), if not the best of the year. Despite the fact that I love Can-i-bus & 2000 B.C., this may be Bis's best album as well. I would definitely recommend this for any Canibus fan (even if you were disappointed with C: True Hollywood Stories) and for any hip-hop fan that wants some real sh!# and not just some shake your a$$ bullsh!# music.

After recuperating from some low blows taken from his last CD "C" True Hollywood Stories, Canibus is back into true lyrical form. On this cd, Canibus truly shows his abilities that put him on another level from most rappers out there. The extroadinary vocabulary skills Canibus spits is almost as if he is shedding knowledge that any listener can learn. On the track "C" Section, Canibus displays his mastery in lyrics writing in opening with "Spit it Exquisite, and rip it minute by minute, I'm in it to win it you f*** around with bis you finished, a lyrical menace I scrape enamel off your teeth like a dentist." Raw and dangerous on the mic, all should step into the 'MicClub' because Canibus is back and better then ever.

Mic Club by Canibus is a hip-hop treasure. every song on this cd you can listen to without skipping through. The beats are hot and of course Bis' lyrics are amazing. just about every song is straight flowing with no chorus. Probably the tiightest song is Bis vs. Rip where Canibus battles his other personality (Rip the Jacker) for over six minutes. And if you care about that Eminem/Canibus beef this album is better than any cd Em has ever made or ever will make. Bis' also takes more stabs at LL Cool J which is tiight. Bottom line is this cd is a must buy it is the best 15 dollars you'll spend. im out, one.~C-Hal

Canibus Mr Supa Lyracist Does it again!!,

This review is from: Mic Club: The Curriculum (Audio CD)
Canibus really ignites flames with his tongue on this album. Honestly though the production needs a lil help. At the same time though tru lyracist lovers by Canibus albums for their lyrics not the beats. If you put this man together with some ill beats he will prove he is the best MC. On this album he really lights it up. This is a vast improvement over C True Hollywood stories which was mediocre at best. On this album he is more rugged and back to his amazing metaphors. He shows his versatility in BIS Vs. RIP and proves creativity. In Curriculum 101 he is super lyrical and finally disses back Eminem (whom i would love to see battle). My favorite song on the album is Dr C" PHD which combines good lyrics with an amazing beat. After hearing this album i can definitely say Canibus is back to the top 5 MC's signed or unsigned. Amazing lyrical album. Hope he improves the beats in the future.

Canibus's Best Album,
This review is from: Mic Club: The Curriculum (Audio CD)
This album is a classic. If you want dope beats and raw lyricism, this is for you.
However, this isn't for everyone kids. If you like Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, look elsewhere.

Classic album - his best,

Canibus' 4th album & his 3rd in as many years, delivers like a MoFo. This album is just great and my personal favorite of his (closely beating out his "2000 B.C."). No weak track 2 are ok, 2 are clasics, 2 are near classics and the rest are great. GREAT production (all by producers I never heard of), and lyrics and delivery that make him a top 3 MC of all time. More than half of the songs are just spit striaght 80+ bars, no chorus. The only bad thing is there is only 11 songs on it. A must have album filled with classic material & scarce amounts of guests.
#2 - 9 #3 - 8 #4 - 9.5 (tight beat) #5 - 10 (classic song f/ Kool G Rap - has a tight beat and one of my all time favorite songs) #6 - 10 (another classic with a beat to pump you up) #7 - 7 #8 - 9 (f/ Luminati - tight beat) #9 - 9 #10 - 8.5 (he battles w/ his alter ego on this one) #11 - 6.5 (f/ Jedi Mind Tricks - weakest one on the album) #12 - 9.5 b.
