I plugged it into the audio jack using the provided adapter as well as into the USB port to keep it powered.
I haven't tested the full range out yet, but it works without any problems from my kitchen to the living room with a wall in between, so about 35 feet for sure.
When I receive a phone call, the in-car bluetooth connects and when I hang-up, the Miccus device reconnects my music automatically.
