5.0 out of 5 stars Another fun album of pop standards.
Michael Buble has a competent voice, an interesting style and a natural flair when it comes to singing pop classics, and his debut album, produced with the help of David Foster and Paul Anka, is a gem.

Listening to it, you'd never guess the album wasn't of the Rat Pack period. Buble, whose smooth voice is a delight, is only 25 years old, though.

3.0 out of 5 stars The lost art of the voice!
In this age of popstars, idols and celebrity worship, the art of singing usually seems to have been forgotten. Marketing, personality, and looks are all nowadays quite openly looked upon as the most important aspects of an artist courting popularity. Michael Buble has all these (looks, big label, big managers, big producers, etc.), but the amazing thing is... his voice...

With Rod Stewart and Robbie Williams doing albums that harken back to the era when Dino and the Chairman ruled the airwaves, it's good to see someone who's not just doing these songs as a sort of wink-wink throwback. Buble sings these songs because he prefers singing these songs, not because he had a pop rock career that fizzled.

Hopefully, with future albums, he'll stay within this genre and continue doing such fun, catchy work. It's good that someone like Michael Buble recognizes that the best music is the kind that can lead couples to dance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, November 3, 2003
This review is from: Michael Buble (Audio CD)
For me it was great to see anyone in the music industry taking someone seriously on this kind of music. Since Harry Connick Jr. there hasn't been anyone else, in my opinion, who comes close to singing these old classics the way Frank, Dean, Sammy or Tony had. I would like to thank whomever is responsible for the great arrangements such as George Michael's kissing a fool, Van Morrison's moon dance and the BG's "how to mend a broken heart" to mention a few,( as well as the rest of the CD ),to showcase Michael's wide and diverse singing range. Though I must say that his second CD did not have the same effort from the arrangement people as his first one, still, Michael comes through with another Great effort. Hopefully more people will get on the band wagon and give this young man all the help he richley deserves to reach his destiny.

Michael Buble Has Recorded A Cd Of Great Standards Old & Newer!!His Version Of "Fever" Is The Best I've Heard, I Was Thrilled With His "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" & His "Put You Head On My Shoulder" Is As Tender And Romantic As Any Song Ever Recorded!! Though This Cd Has A Lot Of Romance, Michael Also Kicks It Up A Notch On Songs Such As "Moondance", "Come Fly With Me" & "Summer Wind"!! The Production & Arrangements Are Beyond Words...David Foster & Co. Have Done It Again! Michael Buble Is A Great Singer & LOVES These Songs!! Thanks Michael!! A Fan Forever-David

If you want to give the perfect Valentine's gift that screams Romance!! This is it... This guy has such a great voice. You will swear you are back in 50's Vegas listening to Sinatra woo you. The arrangments are just as gorgeous, but what do you expect when David Foster is involved. This is one C.D. that will stay in my C.D. player for a very long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best male vocal albums, February 11, 2003

I bought this album on a whim. Michael's voice harks all the way back to the days of the true crooners. One of the finest albums and a welcome treat after the recent abysmal Rod Stewart release.
I hesitate not with my endorsement for this fabulous album. Great for dinners, parties or just shear pleasure.
Will be awaiting any follow up albums with great anticipation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD, and a great new voice!, March 4, 2003

I feel very foolish. I reviewed this here at Amazon previously after listening to the CD a couple of times. Maybe I was in a bad mood, I don't know....but today I listened to it on the way to work, and then I played it at work. I work in a very upscale and very well known Beauty Salon and my customers are "trapped" with my music for their stay. Well, when I played Michael Buble, everyone went crazy for it. Everyone wanted to know who was singing, and they wrote the name down to go and purchase it. Then I listened to it again on the way home. I now have a new opinion of this CD, and Michael Buble I really blew it when I stated here before that it was a poor imitation. It really isn't an imitation of Frank, and Dean, it's more a tribute to that style of music. I should also note that Michael Buble doesn't imitate anyone's style either. He has a style that is all his own, but still reminds you of other great singers such as Mel Torme or Sinatra. I really think this is a great CD, and that Michael Buble has a great career ahead of him. I would really love to hear him sing some original music too. This just shows that you should really LISTEN to something carefully before passing judgement!

4.0 out of 5 stars young man with mature taste in music, June 5, 2003

With the exception of the vastly overrated modern "classic" Moondance, this CD surprised me by the range of (admittedly pop) selections included. I was particularly pleased with the inclusion of "That's All," one of my all-time sentimental favorites and one inexplicably omitted from most such collections. (I don't think Michael Feinstein or Ann Hampton Callaway has included it on any of their CDs yet.)

Definitely a man to watch as his voice matures. He already reminds me of Sinatra.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll fall in love..., November 2, 2003

Michael Buble has the voice of Frank Sinatra with a young, sexy, new twist. You will fall in love with his rich, deep, voice just like my family and I did. We saw him perform and the Ronald McDonald House Charity Dinner and he stole the show. His voice will make you fall in love with his playful and love struck lyrics. He is found a great nitch in the music business that needed to be filled. Michael Buble will be a leader in the music industry, buy his CD and find out why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding debut!, March 19, 2003
This review is from: Michael Buble (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD after catching the last 30-seconds of a story about Michael Buble' on "Extra." I didn't need to preview the CD, listen to it in the store, read other reviews. The minute I heard his voice I knew that David Foster's latest protegee is destined for great success.

How refreshing it is to hear a reworking of these wonderful standards. There are delightful hints of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, but Michael Buble' is unique. His interpretation of George Michael's "Kissing a Fool" is wonderful, and "Moon Dance," "The Way You Look Tonight," and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" are fantastic. He truly soars (pardon the pun) on "Come Fly With Me." The only misstep is "How Do You Mend..." but even that is forgiveable. I can't wait for Michael's next release. I have been playing this CD nonstop at work and at home and am personally responsible for at least three people deciding to purchase the CD for themselves.

Spread the word: Michael Buble' is the next big thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Harry Connick Jr. eat your heart out!, June 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Michael Buble (Audio CD)
I first heard Michael Buble in the film DOWN WITH LOVE. I turned to my friends and asked "Who is that singing? He's great!" But I didn't think about the unknown singer for weeks.

Then I was in a CD store with the same friends and one turned to me and said "You must get this CD. This is the guy you liked from DOWN WITH LOVE." Well, I bought the CD and rushed home to listen to it.

This guy has real talent. Harry Connick Jr. may be a fine musician but he is but "a poor man's Sinatra" next to a singer like Michael Buble. Buble brings something more to the standards. He has a sweeter voice than Connick yet brings a more individual style too. In some ways he is reminiscent of Bobby Darin but whereas Darin could certainly swing, Buble also brings a sensuality to his music. His version of "Sway" is by far the best I have heard and my current favorite from the CD.

The arrangements are all great and the selections range from standards like "Fever" and "Come Fly With Me" to new classics like "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" and "Moondance". Buble's cover of "The Way You Look Tonight" would make even Fred Astaire proud.
