I'VE READ WHATEVER MATERIAL I COULD THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH MICHAEL CHEKHOV, BUT LISTENING TO CHEKHOV SPEAK ABOUT HIS TECHNIQUE IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE. FOR ME IT FELT LIKE CHEKHOV WAS SITTING RIGHT BESIDE ME. I COULD FEEL THE PASSION OF HIS VOICE. VERY INSPIRING. I RECOMMEND FIRST GETTING ACQUAINTED WITH CHEKHOV'S TECHNIQUE BY READING HIS BOOK "ON THE TECHNIQUE OF ACTING" AND ONCE YOU GET A VERY GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF IT, USE THIS AUDIO COMPILATION AS AN AID TO INSPIRE, AND KEEP YOU IN TOUCH WITH THE MAN AND HIS ART. SOUND QUALITY IS NOT THE BEST, BUT I'M GRATEFUL THAT ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVEN EXISTS, SO IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL. IF YOU'RE AN ACTOR OR WANT TO BE ONE, AND LOOK AT ACTING AS AN ART FORM, THEN GET ACQUAINTED WITH CHEKHOV AND HIS TECHNIQUE. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT OUT THERE.

As a fan of Michael Chekhov, I found this product very helpful! It came with several CDs that I uploaded to my computer and listen on my ipod daily. It's pretty amazing to hear Chekhov explaining his theories on his own terms and timing. I especially enjoyed the elements of the mask section.

This item is probably not for beginning theatre students, but for those who have heard of Chekhov, you will enjoy!

This is a wonderful audio book which is a must for anyone interested in Drama and the actor's art.
It was recorded in California in 1955 - the year Michael Chekhov died. The listener has expounded for him/her - in Chekhovs own warm and inimitable tones - the secrets of acting. Chekovs approach is comprehensive - physical , psychological and spiritual.Just to listen is enriching.
