5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs
A great album with some terrific songs. A good mix of styles and artists. Bonnie Raitt's "Feels Like Home" is one of the prettiest songs ever. And Kenny Wayne Shepherd does a fantastic cover of the Rolling Stones "The Spider and the Fly" with the help of great blues artist James Cotton. Then there's the country smash by The Mavericks, "I don't...

3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SONGS...
Truly they are. But the quality of the recording is very bad. Maybe there wasn't a good job remastering the original tapes or whatever, but if you have a stereo with four or more speakers, you have to turn off them and leave only two to listen without distortion... something you pay in loudness, of course. But again, as many reviewers has said, this is the kind of stuff...

Then there's the country smash by The Mavericks, "I don't care if you love me anymore", and Willie Nelson's take on the Satchmo classic "What a Wonderful World". And Andie MacDowell shows that she can sing just as well as she can act with "Sittin' by the side of the road". This is an album that will lift your spirits...recommended. And you don't even need to see the movie to enjoy this album...I haven't seen it.

5.0 out of 5 stars if you only knew how it made me feel, July 15, 1999
By A Customer
the song "feels like home" will hit you right where it hurts. it made me cry, and cry, and cry, and i'm not a person to cry about a song, this cd is so totally worth the money, even if you're not a country music fan, which i'm not, it still hits home with you, and trust me, you'll love it! i'm listening to it right now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Soaring feel good soundtrack with poor recording quality, December 9, 2004
Top performers in all musical genres lined up to give us a great, feel-good soundtrack that's more memorable than the movie. Don Henley opens up with inspiring "Through your Hands." Another Texan, Willie Nelson, offers his own take on Louis Armstrong's, "What a Wonderful World." Overall, the music will get you on your feet and lift your spirits--and what could be more angelic than that???

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing Songs Galour, April 14, 2006
There are alot of songs missing in this soundtrack. I notice that "Goin up around the bend" by Credance is missing also. They played while Michael was riding in the far back seat of the beat up station wagon for the first time. To bad. It was a great song and one of their best. Glad they included the song Mcdowell sang at the restuarant. It was good too. I gave it 4 stars because of the missing songs. If they were included it would have been 5 stars plus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wrapped In The Wings of an Angel, April 2, 2005
This review refers to "Michael: Music From The Motion Picture"(CD)..

The soundtrack from the film "Michael", had great music from start to finish. There were many, many songs to lift your spirits and give the precise tone of of the story. The theme of "Michael" was live life, enjoy your time while you are here.
This album does not have all the music from the movie, but there are 11 selections that probably depict some of the best and most memorable moments from the film that represent that theme.

The music that is included feels safe and warm. It will make you smile and may even inspire you to do great things! The tracks are not in the exact order from the film, but you'll love em all anyway. Included are Don Henley's inspiring "Through Your Hands", and if you have seen the film, you will remember that great scene, where Johnny T treats us to his moves, surrounded by all the women in the bar to the wonderful "Chain Of Fools" (Aretha Franklin). Bonnie Raitt's "Feels Like Home" feels great, and who could forget that lump in the throat evoking rendition of "What A Wonderful World" by Willie Nelson. Andie MacDowell's fun but touching "Sittin By The Side Of The Road" is included as well.

It's a fabulous trip down memory lane, and feel good album. Even if you haven't seen the film, you can't go wrong with this great music. Also included are Van Morrison, The Mavericks, Randy Newman, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Al Green and Norman Greenbaum. (See buying info for complete list of songs)

My only reason for going with 4 stars is that at only 38 minutes, I thought a couple more songs could have been included. The CD comes with an insert that lists the songs and artists, and also has a few pix from the film. "Sparky" the dog is also featured on the cover.

Get wrapped in Michael's big wings again and enjoy...Laurie

5.0 out of 5 stars MAKES ME SMILE :), July 29, 1998
By A Customer
This soundtrack (and movie) brings me right to where we should be. Happy, singing, smiling, etc.

The spiritual songs on the soundtrack lift my soul. Definately one to have in your car, to listen to after a busy day .

4.0 out of 5 stars Good variety but missing some soundtrack, November 26, 2008
We enjoyed the movie and expected to find the entire soundtrack on the CD. It basically contained only the performing artists (quite good) but was missing some the other music, i.e. the dancing music theme, etc. Overall, we did enjoy the CD.

What a fun listen. I play it at casual dinner parties for bavkground music and it makes people smile. For some reason one of the Sinatra songs in the movie is not included...too bad.

I liked the music CD so much that I ordered the Movie DVD. My favorite Songs include I Don't Care If You Love Me Anymore, Heaven Is My Home, The Bright Side Of The Street, and Feels Like Home To Me. I think Louie Armstrong's version of What A Wonderful World is better, but Willie Nelson does a fine job with the song. I always enjoy anything Randy Newman does. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone.
