This review is from: Michael Faraday (Trailblazers) (Paperback)
You have no doubt heard of Michael Faraday as he was a well-known scientist and prolific lecturer whose discoveries and observations affect still us today. The author, Derrick Bingham, brings Michael Faraday's world to light in a captivating manner, highlighting many aspects of his strong moral character, diligence and humility. This book not only provides an historical context for learning about Michael Faraday, but also teaches children what it means to honor God in our work.
In this biography, you and your children will learn about Michael's humble beginnings and the example of faith set before him by his parents. Learn how Michael was encouraged and influenced by his master/ mentor in the bookbinding business when he became an apprentice at 14 years old for a period of 7 years. See how Michael Faraday had a love of learning in a wide variety of subjects apart from science. The author artfully describes the first international journey that Michael took as an assistant to Sir Humphrey Davy and the discoveries he helped to make. The author covers the entire life of Michael Faraday and places rightful emphasis on the fact that Michael Faraday was in awe of God and His glorious creation, so much so that he wanted to study and pass on that awe and wonder to others, especially children although he never had children of his own. Overall, this is an excellent book, one well-worth adding to your library. A great compliment to this book is Elements of Faith: Vol 1: Hydrogen to Tin. The age recommendation for this book is stated as Read to Me for ages 6-8 and Read Myself for ages 9-14. My 7-year old son enjoyed it immensely and read it to himself with discussion with me and his father. The book includes a detailed timeline as well as a follow-up with discussion points at the end of the book which includes a Bible verse with each commentary which we found to be very helpful.
