This is a nice backgammon set. As other reviewers have mentioned, I find the surface easy to scratch...but that will just give it character!! The cups were not felt lined but my wife is doing that for me. The pips are very heavy, almost too heavy, and were solidly stuck together when I opened them. I had to pry them apart with a screwdriver, scratching several of them in the process. All of the minor inconveniences aside, I look forward to many years of backgammoning my opponents!!

Very pretty, nicely made. The backgammon pieces are solid and very heavy, almost too heavy. If you are not careful, you can scratch the board. Overall, happy with my purchase.

I purchased this with the hope that it would blend with hunting lodge decor...you know woodsy,masculine,etc.
Well not only did it compliment but it is constructed in such a way that I see it lasting for years to come.The board is gorgeous The playing pieces are substantialy heavy and when folded up the game is looks like a beautifully crafted artpiece.

my best friend and i are avid backgammon players and beat through her original set. i searched high and low for a high quality set and could not find anything anywhere. until this one!!!
the set is absolutely gorgeous. it's a piece of art. it is made of high quality materials...you will not believe how heavy it is! it's beautiful cherry wood that would be a shame to scratch.
the pieces are heavy and pretty...you sort of want to eat them. :) so many boards have flimsy plastic pieces. these are made of clay perhaps? very nice.
there is a clear die for picking turns and two sets of dice for rolling (black and white). even the dice-rolling container things--which we've never used in other sets--are beautiful and edgy. and they make a very satisfying sound as the dice rattle inside.
the drawer fits everything in it just perfectly and it's lovely the way the board folds up and unfolds open.
my best friend was sooooooo thrilled with this gift. it's really that gorgeous.

Very nice game! This set will not live in the game closet. We do agree with other reviewers that the ceramic playing pieces would over time scratch the playing surface. Our solution was to apply self adhesive felt to the bottom of each piece. It improved the feel of the game. The only drawback is that now two of the pieces do not fit in the designated storage area. There is, however plenty of room for them in the drawer with the dice cups.

We gave this set as a birthday gift and it was a big hit. We love the little drawer where the dice, cup and markers fit snugly into compartments. The markers are satisfyingly heavy. The wooden box is sleekly beautiful. A great value for the money!

I bought this as a surprise for my husband and we were both really thrilled with the quality. Really nice and can sit out without looking like a game. The game pieces and solid and sturdy, although we seems to be one missing, which we just replaced with a quarter. The missing piece is why I am not giving this 5 stars.
