Just go to a poker chip website and you can get 300 9.0 gram clay chips with a case for only about $15 to $20 more than this set.

I am currently awaiting my order on this product but I have already used the first version (which was just a different color...beachwood). One of my roomates bought it and the set soon became our 7th roomate, poker night used to be once a week and then it became every other day.

The chips have weight to them and even though they are not clay chips (like the casinos use) they are heavy enough to really get the feel of the game. If you're like me then you have probably been stuck playing with those cheap plastic bicycle chips, you'll notice a big difference when you get your hands on this set.

You can buy similar poker sets (200-300 chip carosels) from more upscale dealers. These sets will have standard clay chips (no cool designs, but good weight) and will run you around $$-$$

In comparison this set is a real bargain and will be well worth your money. From now on, when you go all in with a good hand you'll really feel like you hit it big at Vegas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great chips, bad holder, horrible cards., March 16, 2004

The chips are very nice, very heavy. Not sure what they're made out of but it feels definitely better than plastic.

Like others have said, the chip holder is badly designed. Trying to get the last bottom chip out without flipping the holder upside down is impossible. Also loading and unloading the chips is not easy.

The cards are completely worthless.

3.0 out of 5 stars for the money, go online and get some 11.5 gram chips, October 11, 2004

This review is from: Michael Graves Design™ Poker Game- Cherry (Toy)
the only upside to these chips are that they are the best plastic chips around and the carousel is nice. the cards suck. dont even think about using them.to get the bottom chip out of the holders is quite a chore since the side opening doesnt go down far enough for your finger to get underneath it. the major downsides to these chips (compared to a similarly priced set of 11.5 gram import chips) is that they are only one solid color and are only about 7-7.2 grams on a digital scale. plus you only get 240 whereas for the same price you can get 300 11.5 gram suited, dice, or diamond chips. so my advice to search the internet for a set of 300 11.5 gram metal insert chips.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise..., August 24, 2004
By A Customer

I was in the market for a set of poker chips and ran into these. Initially, I didn't expect much other than the nice holder. To my surprise the chips had good weight to them and became the main attraction of the set. They're not quite 11.5g, probably closer to 9g. They make a great sound when you shuffle them and even a better one when throw them in and call your opponent's bet. The chips are monotone and stamped with the Michael Graves signature for a nice subtle look. My only gripe is that the cards suck but the sleeves are a nice addition. The chips don't always fall into the slots straight but that's no biggie. Also, depending on your betting limits, you may need two sets of these if your games involve more than 6 people. It comes with 240 chips which is good for about 4-5 players.

After reading the reviews here I just had to go to the set I just purchased and get the last chip out, which I did without any trouble and without turing it upside-down or lifting it. The cards leave much to be desired but the cards are the easiest item to replace. My local Target store has this product reduced in price. I was online looking to see if I can order more chips without purchasing an entire new set, so far I'm unsuccessful. Overall I think this is an excellent starter unit for the price, especially for beginners that can't stand to use the cheap plastic poker chips. Over time I may replace the chips with the higher quality 11.5 g chips. PROS - great starter set for my price. Cons - quality of cards and lower number of chips 4-5 players vs 8-9 players. Debatable - getting the last chip out, not a problem for me (skinny fingers with no use of fingernail ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars solid value, May 13, 2004

Chips have a nice sound and feel...I actually perfer them to the 11.5 dice or suited "clay" chips. The case is nice looking but its hard to load the chips back in. The cards are garbage but that's ok. If you play often invest in some plastic KEM cards and never use the cheap paper ones again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great chips, cards are worthless... well worth the set., January 27, 2004

The chips alone are pretty much worth the set, the cards are useless and the chip holder is a nice addition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice chips, May 11, 2004

The chips above are bery high quality for the price. They are not as good as the clay chips you may find in the poker rooms, but they are the next best thing. I would highly recommend them if you have a weekly poker game and want to spice it up a little. 4.0 out of 5 stars Good mid-level chips, April 23, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Michael Graves Design™ Poker Game- Cherry (Toy)
These chips are light years better than those plastic chips. However, they're mid-level chips - you can pay a little more and get the best chips available to the public, 11.5 gram clay/metal center. The case is nice, but won't take but a few chips at a time and is prone to spilling. Cards are worthless - the felt holders are a nice touch though.
