Grade 2-5–Both of these titles introduce individuals who have overcome serious physical handicaps and succeeded in reaching their goals. The print is fairly large, and each page has a color photo, but the books are short on facts. Students researching Michael J. Fox or Parkinson's disease will find little basic information and certainly not any insight into the person himself. Jean Driscoll is a young woman who was born with spina bifida. She has had many accidents and surgeries, and is confined to a wheelchair. She has excelled at sports, including winning the Boston Marathon eight times. While the people themselves could generate interest, the language in the books is dry and static and the photos look like stock prints.–Susan Lissim, Dwight School, New York City
